Rafael Sabatini (1875 – 1950) was a famous Italian and English writer of novels of romance and adventure best known for his worldwide best-sellers as The Sea Hawk (1915), Scaramouche (1921) and Captain Blood (1922). Several of his novels were adapted into films during the silent era and the first three of these books were made into notable films in the sound era, in 1940, 1952, and 1935 respectively.
“The Trampling of the Lilies” is a novel written by Sabatini about events based during the French Revolution, the story is of a common man who loves a woman of aristocracy and the romance that gradually develops as he shows himself more noble than those of her class. It is an entertaining book and worth reading due to unknown and intrigue end for sharing their love for each other. The ending of this story is quiet similar itself to a common in romances written in that period so have a nice romantic reading.
