Ophelia has always considered her psychic abilities an imposition, except for those times she's been able to put her paranormal talents to good use—like when a friend asks her to help find a missing teenager. Unfortunately it means she and Abby, her kindly, canny sorceress granny, will be taking to the road to pursue the vanished girl in the wilds of Minnesota.

The signs are pointing toward the secluded new age research facility of Jason and Juliet Finch, who live with their troubled—and possibly matricidal—thirteen-year-old niece. And a bizarre local murder that follows their arrival—plus the appearance of a mysterious Native American shaman—only emphasize the urgency of Ophelia and Abby's hunt, drawing them into a web of dark secrets and to the last place they'd ever wish to be: a cottage in the woods where true evil quite possibly resides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This series is just getting better and better!! During the hot heat of August Ophelia and Abby get roped into to looked for a missing girl in Minnesota by Rick. Ophelia and Abby are to use their natural talents to get the “cult” that Brandi went missing from to trust them. Almost as soon as they are they start running into the locals, well run them down. The duo continues to make impressions on the towns’ people when Abby deals with some local kids. One of the cult members happens to witness it, and soon they are invited to dinner. Ophelia goes to dinner at the cult, and finds it very weird. There is something going on between Jason, Juliet, Winnie and Tink. The duo get a new roommate as Darci shows up because the library back home is closed for fumigating. Everyday Ophelia looks worse and worse. She is too busy taking care of everyone else and not herself. Darci takes Ophelia on a day trip and they find a body. They believe it was Brandi at first, turns out it was the man that they almost ran down Abby finally meets Tink and knows right off the bat that she is a powerful physic, but is very concerned that Ophelia can’t tell. Seems that something unseen is trying to drain Ophelia of her physic barriers, to take her over. Abby soon discovers that someone has been trying to work them over with powerful evil magick. To save them and the missing girl, they will need to get to the bottom of things. This is the third in the series and it just keeps getting better! I really like the Ophelia and Abby characters. I also think that they are believable and really likable. I can’t wait to see what they get into next. I am looking forward to the new dynamic with Tink.
