Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware: Incorrect scientific “facts” I bought this book earlier today and was very excited to share it with my young daughter, who was even more enthused to receive such a neat-looking activity book. However, after bringing it home, looking more carefully at it, and having her ask questions about some of what she was reading, the quality of it came under scrutiny quickly. Most notably on page 22: readers are told 3 times (!!) that water molecules are made of 1 Hydrogen atom and 2 Oxygen atoms. This is, simply put, wrong. And it’s clearly not a typo considering the repeated nature of the mistake. Water molecules are a bond between 2 H and 1 O atoms. My conclusion is that the author of this book is clearly not a person who has anything useful or meaningful (or accurate) to share with children, and it is a mystery how this mistake could have made it past anybody that has attended (junior?) High School. If the author has this very basic information wrong, I can only imagine the other bits of “non-fiction” contained throughout the rest of the book.
