Rated 3 out of 5 by from Losing Steam After having lost Katherine, Damon and Stefan head to New Orleans for their new life as vampires. The problem is, Damon doesn't want to be one. Stefan continues to try and make his brother see the light, but instead keeps pushing him away. Damon ends up being captured and taken to a freak show circus, where his vampire instincts take over. Stefan must try to save him, with the help of some friends he meets along the way. But does Damon really want to be saved? This is the second book in the Stefan's Diaries series, based on The Vampire Diaries novels and tv show of the same name. This set of novels seems to be following in the footsteps of the original series: The first book is amazing, and then it fails to amaze as the series goes on. This one was still good, but a little weird for me. The more I read, the less I seem to like Stefan, who should be the likeable character. He seems to have a lot of "one true loves". Definitely the best line of this novel was the very last one ;)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You'll like this if you liked the first If you liked the first in this Stefan's journal series there's no reason why you wont like this. We follow Stefan in his first months of being a vampire and meeting Lexi. We also follow the demise of Daemon and really come to understand why he's filled with so much hate. When Daemon is captured into a freak show act, the book revolved on Stefan trying to save his resentful brother. Keep in mind this book was written with input from the TV show so it doesn't follow the original history of the brothers exactly, but in my opinion it's more interesting. It's a quick read and keeping only in Stefan's perspective is much easier to comprehend whereas in the other TVD books jumping perspectives makes it quite confusing.
