Haunted by the past . . .

The year is 1888, and the scent of blood lingers heavy in the London air. Stefan Salvatore thought he could escape his violent origins by settling in the peaceful countryside of England, but when a heinous murderer named Jack the Ripper surfaces, Stefan fears darkness will always follow him. Drawn into the investigation, Stefan assumes the worst: This is the work of a vampire. And the more he learns, the more he becomes convinced that the killer is someone close to him—and that he can never outrun his past.

Based on the popular CW TV show inspired by the bestselling novels, Stefan’s Diaries reveals the truth about what really happened between Stefan, Damon, and Katherine—and how the Vampire Diaries love triangle began.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very intense! Kept me on the edge of my seat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Starting to get repetitive Okay, if you liked the first 3 in this series it's likely you'll still like this one, though it's starting to become repetitive. It's as though each novel in this series follows the same formula: Stefan feels guilty, Daemon is mean, sometimes Daemon is nice and we're not sure where he stands, there is some evil the brothers have to get together to overcome, some girl needs saving. It's not bad, just- predictable. I think they could have done A LOT with the "Ripper" idea but it almost becomes a side story. I will say however after reading all the other TVD books both from the first series to the recent reboot I do believe this book is not written by the original author though her name is on it. It's clearly written in majority by the TV producers- and I dont think that's a bad thing. These books are far easier to follow, flow coherently, and generally don't leave any loose threads. When you compare it to the other series it's hard to believe they are the same author at all and that's for sure. Though, I prefer this writing style to the one in the other TVD books. The other "Stefan's Diaries" mostly wrap up by the end of the book. This one doesnt. So perhaps you'll want to save it for when the follow up book is out so you can read them both together.
