We had the hard page version and it went through the 8 kids. The first one of my friends who had a baby got this book and I am definitely going to buy it for all the nieces and nephews!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delightful, sensory experience I have bought a number of copies of this book for my children and as gifts. Every child I've read it to enjoys the layout of the book, the counting, and it also facilitates further thinking by kids who go on to talk about which of the foods mentioned they like, don't like, etc. The theme of growing and becoming is perfect for children. And of course, the artistic style never fails to captivate!

From Our Editors

Hand picked by our Panel of Experts the IndigoKids Recommends program offers book suggestions designed to help you find the perfect book easily and confidently. Like Jon Scieszka, Eric Carle obviously sees the world with unique vision and presents that vision to young readers in an equally distinct way. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a perfect example, a board book splashed with colour and a cute little protagonist. The story tells of a ravenous young caterpillar who's eating a lot so he can become a beautiful butterfly. This is a wonderful title in a great body of work, including The Grouchy Lady Bug? and Have You Seen My Cat?.
