Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it #plumrewards. If I did not already own the first 3 compendiums of this graphic novel I'd purchase this if just because it's sturdier then the compendium that is constantly flopping over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets better and better The story picks up and the story gets better as the book goes on. Kirkman's zombie dystopia is such compelling stuff. It's not so much the zombies that are compelling but the humans themselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing graphic novel The Walking Dead is an amazing series. The storyline is gripping and unpredictable. The opening to the series was strong and develops these complex characters and examines human nature under extreme duress (i.e. a zombie apocalypse). Great read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't stop reading! Don't be foolish and just pick up Book 1 only. You're gonna wanna open this one up right away after. Do what I did and buy quite a few in one shot so that you're not waiting too long to continue reading!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Start After watching the show first, this book moves along pretty quickly in comparison. Too good to put down tho...just wish I had read them before watching the show!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not as rich as the TV show It almost pains me to write that title, but it is true. I am not normally into graphic novels, but I recently started watching the AMC series based on this GN, so I thought I would give it a shot. The biggest problem, as far as I can see, is that the television series is SO good, that the lofty expectations I had for the written version were just way too high. It didn't (and truthfully couldn't) have the character depth of the TV series, and I found that it jumped quickly from storyline to storyline. However, I read through the book rapidly because it was fascinating and just different enough from the TV show that it was surprising too. I thought the drawings were well done, but found that some of the characters were very similarly drawn. At times, I wasn't sure if it was Rick or Hershel who was talking especially when they shared the same panel. Nonetheless, it was very good, and I would recommend you read it before you watch the series and it may become even better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The epic struggle continues. . . The Walking Dead Book Two is comic issues #13-24 of the continuing fight for survival. At the end of book one the group of survivors think they have found a place of salvation to start a new life. The only thing is with change come all new challenges to face. Greatly paced like the first book. Loved the ending, just great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A story of survival. . . Great collection of the first 12 issues of The Walking Dead comics. I'm a fan of the show and knew reading this that it would be pretty different. I did enjoy this collection and thought it was very well pace and well written. The art style is very clean and well done. This story of survival is a must read, especially because the story still continues. Issue #100 of the comic books arrives in July, I believe. I'm off to read book two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unreal zombie series I'll admit I didn't pick this up until I had watched the Walking Dead tv series. I'm happy to see that the television show borrows a lot from the comics. Having already see the series I was not at all disappointed by the comics, even though I already knew what happened. The story is very interesting and the characters are well developed. The art work is very well drawn, and I like how it is drawn in black and white. This is definitely a 19+ story. This volume follows Rick Grimes as he wakes up from a coma into a world filled with zombies. He tries to get to Atlanta to see if he can find his wife and child.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Redefines the Zombie Genre! Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" has redefined the zombie genre and while there have been many imitators of late, all fail miserably compared to this series. The story is just as much, if not more, about the group of survivors interacting with each other as it is about the zombie threat lurking around every corner. You will care about these characters. This hardcover is a wonderful addition to any bookshelf. The oversize format showcases the art beautifully and collects issues #1 - 12 and has some nice bonus features at a very affordable price. I already own the tpb's and will be picking up volume 2 and 3 in this format.
