Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I've actually read through this story a few times. The art changes from Tony Moore (I'm a big fan of his) after the first few issues, which was hard for me at first, but you get used to the new style after a while and it's still quite good. Great story and it's significantly better than the TV show.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from love the series but this thing is so heavy I love love love the walking dead. This book is great for just a huge binge-read but I find it really awkward to hold. My hands get so tired after like 5 minutes. I think the only way to comfortably read it is if you get a book stand. Otherwise I personally find the Books a better means of reading the comics. Great story though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it #plumpointsreview. I actually like the graphic novel as much as the tv show and I read it first before watching it. In the graphic novel the major difference is that there is no Merle or Daryl Dixon and it works, you do not feel their loss in the graphic novel. But I love both the Dixon brothers in the tv show. Same goes for Carol in the show, love how her character went from wimpy beaten down wife to the strong reliable person she has become. She's dead in graphic novel and Sophia is still alive. Oops maybe that's not in this compendium yet, sorry

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good! If your a Walking Dead fan show, you will love the comics. Even though it may feel like a repeat, the story lines are so different I felt like the comics was completely their own unit separate from the show. I also liked the option of buy thing the compendium compared to buying/searching for the issues/volumes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from never a dull moment Where Walking Dead shines is in its action (never a dull moment in this series) and its unpredictability (honestly anyone can die at any moment). It's a solid, entertaining read. It could use to stop over explaining certain scenes and make it feel a little less disjointed, but all in all I enjoyed it and look forward to continuing the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I really loved this compendium. Any fan of "The Walking Dead" tv show will be fascinated to see how different the characters are in the comic. This compendium is also worth the price considering how much content you're getting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the show, love the comics I hadn't heard of the Walking Dead until I watched the TV which I am obsessed with. I was recently gifted all of the compendiums. I have only read the first so far, and I am really happy with the experience. The art is fantastic, the story is incredible and there are marked differences between the show and the comics, so they are just as entertaining to read. The first compendium comes with a bonus story about Morgan and Duane at the end. The hardcover compendiums are well bound, easy to read, and are made with a high quality gloss paper, wonderful for the many, many read I'm sure my copy with get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved these graphic novels If you're a fan of the tv show this book is for you. you may even enjoy it more than the shows as I know I did when I first started reading them some time ago. It's always great to compare them both time to time and see how both hold up against one another.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Exciting and Dark AS I'm sure you know, this is about a Zombie apocalypse and a group of survivors. Interesting story and characters (some are really different from the show - Carol!), but a little slow in parts, like the show. Very expensive, but buy it online and its worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent series Love this compendium. Heavy but takes less room on the shelf then all the volumes together and better bang for your buck. Great series, great illustrations, great story. Will be reading the second compendium shortly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great series The compendium format is the best bang for your buck format. You get this many issues for this cost in any other printed format. Given its size, the spine will crease if you aggressively press your books flat though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I got this as a gift this past Christmas, it's such a great book and definitely worth the price. Previously I had bought the first three issues of the series separately and that alone added up to $60. Definitely worth it and such a good read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4 Stars I got into the show recently and decided to read the comics as well. I really liked it and the graphics are well done. This is a pretty great deal compared to buying the volumes individually. I didn't read the description properly and was a little surprised when I saw that it was black and white. But it didn't bother me and it didn't take anything away from the story. I would definitely recommend this. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very exciting, heartbreaking, feels like your in the story! Very exciting, heartbreaking, feels like your in it story. I stumbled upon the tv show one night and fell in love the detail they put into their character development (Daryl Dixon ftw) I am now on a hellatus right now and i figured, being a comic fan that i would pick this up and give it a go, hoping it would be really good. It is similar, yet different from the tv show as is every book/comic they turn into something for the big screen. This comic wasn't good. IT WAS BRILLIANT! I couldn't put this down i ended up reading it all in 3 days, loving every minute, feeling how they felt when they were finally "safe" for a minute but always having that thought in the back of my head "something is going to happen any page now" . When characters died, Robert put so much effort into the mourning process, letting a few characters loose it and then the ones that were strong through it all keeping it together for the good of the group, but mentally were as broken and lost as the ones who were physically showing it. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is a walking dead fan. Even if you don't like comics the writing in this comic is amazing, and you will fall in love with the characters, feeling there happiness, sorrow and all the other emotions expressed in this collection of comics. It is a great deal if you can get it under $50.00 which it usually is on chapters, so buy it! :3

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Book! Horrible Price! My boyfriend added this to his Christmas list at the last minute and I wasn't able to order online so it would be shipped in time for Christmas so I purchased it in the store.  I was shocked that they were selling them for the list price which is $30 more than online.  I got it anyways cause he didn't ask for much and I wanted him to have something to open on Christmas, but I was still baffled they weren't selling for the same price as online.  Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing. To echo a previous reviewer, this series is addictive. It's simultaneously horrific, heart-wrenching and even hilarious - a true "roller coaster ride." As a reader, you're witness to these characters becoming completely undone; you see their unbridled reactions to a zombie apocalypse, with everything in front of them and behind them completely unknown. It's also a look at how people try to survive - and live together - when even the basic daily comforts are taken away, while being completely disconnected from anyone or anything else. It's a great mix of characters, too - seeing how they interact both with each other and as a unit against their enemies is really interesting and unpredictable. The whole story is unpredictable. I probably picked my jaw up from the floor several times as I made my way through the compendium. And as someone who was previously not a regular reader of graphic novels, I'm hooked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Absolutely fantastic. If it wasn't for the TV show, I would not have heard about The Walking Dead comic since I don't usually read comics (mostly because it cost money). Where the TV series only has 6 episodes it is hard to say what the similarities and differences are since the show and comic are both on going. I find however that the comic book and TV show are actually quite different so far. It started out the same. But there are characters in the comic that aren't in the TV show and vice versa, and also the stuff that happened in the TV show are not in the book so far and vice versa. That isn't to say that some of the stuff in the comic won't happen. I don't know, since neither the TV show or comic is complete. I do find that there are things that happen in the comic that also happens in the TV show, but there done in a different way and with different characters. Even though there are differences, The Walking Dead comic is amazing. If you are someone who wouldn't like the difference in the comic because you seen the TV show first or vice versa, then just think of them as two different stories. There both fantastic pieces of entertainment. The plot is good. It just keeps going and going. And I don't find myself getting bored with it, which is good. The characters are all pretty great. I care more about some than I do others. There is SO many jaw dropping moments! Like I couldn't believe it happened. I have seen comments that some people think where it is a black and white comic, the pictures seem dark or something. That isn't true. The illustrations are really well done, and with good detail for just black and white. There are three illustrators. Tony Moore was the penciler, inker, gray tones for Chapter one. For chapter 2-8 Charlie Adlard was the penciler and inker, and Cliff Rathburn did the gray tones. It sucks , for whatever reason, Tony Moore isn’t the illustrator anymore. I liked his work a little more than I do Charlie’s. Tony made his illustrations stand out, and you can see how much the comic book characters and the TV show actors look alike. I find with Charlie’s illustrations Carol, Glenn, and Maggie all have a similar look. But Charlie still does a great job. I was worried that because it is so big and only paper back, the pages might rip. Thankfully, not a single page as ripped yet. I bought the Walking Dead hardcover books 5 and 6 before I was even finished this. You will save money buying The Compendium right here online. And if you can get it in store, it will probably be more, which is why it would probably be better to buy online. I will just give you a little proof that you would be saving money. These prices are for online shopping. - The Compendium is: $41.54 (Which includes issues 1-48. - The Walking Dead Books (The Hard Covers) are: $24.38 each. (Which has 12 issues each. - So if you buy the first 4 Hardcover Books to equal the first 48 issues (which is what the compendium is) that equals: $97.52. - So your saving $55.98. Anyways you can figure it out if you save on other editions, which you would. I was just doing that for people who didn't want to take the time to figure it out. Sorry this is so long. I have no idea who is going to take the time to read this. I guess since it is a book store site, people just might. Haha.
