The Wrath of Angels: A Charlie Parker Thriller

by John Connolly

Atria/Emily Bestler Books | January 1, 2013 | Kobo Edition (eBook)

The Wrath of Angels: A Charlie Parker Thriller is rated 5 out of 5 by 1.
In the depths of the Maine woods, the wreckage of a plane is discovered. There are no bodies, and no such plane has ever been reported missing, but men both good and evil have been seeking it for a long, long time.

What the wreckage conceals is more important than money. It is power: a list of names, a record of those who have struck a deal with the devil. Now a battle is about to commence between those who want the list to remain secret and those for whom it represents a crucial weapon in the struggle against the forces of darkness.

The race to secure the prize draws in private detective Charlie Parker, a man who knows more than most about the nature of the terrible evil that seeks to impose itself on the world, and who fears that his own name may be on the list. It lures others, too: a beautiful, scarred woman with a taste for killing; a silent child who remembers his own death; and a serial killer known as the Collector, who sees in the list new lambs for his slaughter. But as the rival forces descend upon this northern state, the woods prepare to meet them, for the forest depths hide other secrets.

Someone has survived the crash. Something has survived the crash.

And it is waiting. . . .

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will you side with the Angels? When I picked up the first Charlie Parker book "Every Dead Thing" I almost put it down after reading the back cover. I thought his name was lame, his wife and daughter had been murdered. Having a family of my own I didn't think I needed to read about his or their misery. To this day I am glad I didn't put that book down and I have never regretted picking up any other Charlie Parker. The books follow Charlie as he grows and struggles with who he is and you are right there with him. The books have a great cast of enjoyable characters and Connolly doesn't treat them as secondary characters. He takes the time to help you get to know them, he even does this with minor characters who may only be in a few chapters or pages. Overall the books centre around characters who know what they feel is right and what is wrong. This does not always match what society tells us is right or wrong but in the end it is about justice. This latest book has a strong foundation from the other books and builds more on the underlining supernatural edge and the theme of fallen angels. Dropping even more hints about the nature of Charie Parker and if in the end will he be seen as good or evil for all the justice he has carried out. If you have read these books before you will enjoy The Wrath of Angels" If this is your first time go back to where it all started.
