Who told Rev. Joshua Evans he could sidestep the political machines and run for the Texas House as a write-in candidate? Monday through Friday, Joshua Evans drives a garbage truck for the city of Houston. On Sunday, he ministers to a small church in a part of Houston that at one time was a thriving rural but is now almost in ruins. Joshua has a friend named Stan, a former Houston cop who now runs a nearby trailer park with his stepmother. Foster, a “downtown lawyer” takes ownership of property adjacent to the trailer park. The three very different guys like one another. Each man has heard rumors; together they de-code what it means. A corrupt developer wants to grab this entire section of Houston to build the biggest casino resort in Texas. To drive down land costs, the developer has ordered minions to sabotage the drainage infrastructure. The result could be a toxic wasteland, but there could be loss of life involved. The pastor, Stan and foster realize they may be the people who can head off the disaster. To do it, though, will require political cunning, prayer, stealth, gonzo tactics--and staying alive.
