Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater, make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles-until they are hired to pilfer a famed sword. What appears to be just a simple job finds them framed for the murder of the king and trapped in a conspiracy that uncovers a plot far greater than the mere overthrow of a tiny kingdom.

Can a self-serving thief and an idealistic swordsman survive long enough to unravel the first part of an ancient mystery that has toppled kings and destroyed empires?

And so begins the first tale of treachery and adventure, sword fighting and magic, myth and legend.

When author Michael J. Sullivan self-published the first books of his Riyria Revelations, they rapidly became ebook bestsellers. Now, Orbit is pleased to present the complete series for the first time in bookstores everywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of My All Time Favourite Books Theft of Swords is the first book in one of my all time favourite series. Royce and Hadrian are great characters and Sullivan's writing quickly draws you in. You can start with Theft of Swords or if you prefer to read the story chronologically there are prequels with the first being The Crown Tower.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far so good The book is written in a mediocre writing style, but its funny-ish and I'm a few chapters in. Hopefully it picks up and the characters are developed much more so it gets more interesting to read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from thrilling, magical, recommended While walking through the library, I spotted this book looking for a good read I opened up and started reading. The opening scene was unexpected and amusing. Michael J Sullivan has a storytelling gift, the plot was well conceived and took unexpected twists. Intricate politics involving three political parties and their goals that will definitely affect the future outcome, A new series to add to my favorites, recommended to anyone interested in historical fantasy. Cannot contain my excitement to continue the series.
