Rated 4 out of 5 by from Whimsical and Fun! Fredrik Backman is one of my favorite authors. His writing style is fun and he succeeds to make me LOL a lot. Things My Son Needs to Know About the World is a message to his son. It is full of advice on what to do or not to do to make it in this world. The book is divided into several quirky short stories which will make you laugh and think. This is a must-read to all parents who think they are not so good at this thing called parenting. After reading this book, you will appreciate that you are not so bad after all. Word of advice: choose well where you read this book. I was reading it in the quiet zone on my commuter train and burst out laughing many times and I was getting angry or annoyed looks by those seated around me. I pointed to the book and mouthed that they should read this one. Some nodded in agreement. WIN!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang Bang! I just loved this book. My boys are both teenagers now, but I could relate to many things in here. It was a light, fun and quick read. From what you need to know about soccer, to airports, God and love. He just about covers it all. Fredrick Backman doesn't disappoint. Thank you #NetGalley for the advanced copy. #ThingsMySonNeedsToKnowAboutTheWorld

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Backman at His Best (Advanced Reader’s Copy provided by Atria Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review) This is 100% a 5 star rating from me. I believe that this nonfiction book will make you feel those emotions that connect us all- you may cry, you may laugh, you may gasp, while reading it. Parents and guardians of children may particularly enjoy this because of how realistic and frank Backman is- there is a section dedicated to poop!! Academics may also enjoy this book because the topics of religion and gender studies are explored. There is a chapter on airports and how they relate to religion- you’ll have to read the book yourself to find out how they are related I particularly enjoy a section on masculinities. Backman also acknowledges his wife, her role in parenting and the relationship/marriage, her magnificence, and overall exemplifies that she is amazing! #indigoemployee #gifted

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I could mess this up - with love from your dad Such a charming book about the author's reflection on being a Dad. Told with humour, truth and so much love. These words gave me some laugh out loud moments from the author of #Beartown and #UsAgainstYou and will not disappoint if you are a fan. Being a parent is not always easy, and Backman shares the trials of living up to the potential of being a real 'grown up". This is a book which could be passed along to any new parent along with the feeding and diapering essentials. It would be a lovely shower gift for a Dad! Not only is this book written as a heads up to his growing child but as a beautiful (and realistic) love story to his wife. Although I might not be the target audience for this book, even this grandma enjoyed it.
