John Francis Campbell was a Scottish author, mostly known as a collector of folklore. Inspired by the work of the Grimm brothers and by Scandinavian scholars, John Campbell used his fluent Gaelic to study the Gaelic oral tradition, and published four volumes of collected stories as “Popular Tales of the West Highlands Orally Collected”, with a Translation in 1860-1862. The story described the life of a man, his troubles and adventures. The story plunges the readers into the fairy atmosphere. This work of the author has a philosophical point of view. Read the story about different adventures of the main hero!
