Ashleigh wouldn't care about anything, ever again.

Ashleigh Griffen swore she'd never give her heart to another horse -- not after a terrible disease wiped out her family's breeding farm, along with Ashleigh's favorite mare, Stardust.

Now the Griffens are starting over as breeding managers at Townsend Acres, and Ashleigh's sure she is going to hate living there.

Then a small, sickly foal is born -- a beautiful copper filly that looks like Stardust. No one thinks the foal will live or that it's worth trying to save. No one but Ashleigh.

Can one girl's love alone work miracles?

Read Thoroughbred and experience the love and friendship between a determined girl and a very special filly.

Joanna Campbell appears here with her six-year-old Thoroughbred, Meyersville Magic, known around the barn as CC. He’s a son of Horatius out of Northwich by Timothy’s Champ and is owned by Cathy Day. Formerly trained for racing, he is now being trained for eventing. Last Year he was the Maine Entry Level Champion in Combined Training.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great book for a kid that likes horses. When I was a young child, my mother gave me the first Thoroughbred book to read, as I adored horses. This series captivated my young mind, and gave me great fodder for what would turn in to an insatiable love for reading. I can still remember reading this book at 6 years old, and if you have a child you know that likes horses, get them this book. This entire series can be sad, it can be depressing, but it teaches a lot of life, and shows the rewards of persistence and hard work. The good far outweighs the bad in the case of this well-written children's book.

But when Holly a mare delivers a weak foal and knowbody thinks that the filly will live its up tp Ashleigh to save the filly. Mr. Townsend thinks shes small and to weak to race. But Ashleigh knows she could be a champion and she'll do whatever it takes to get Wonder to the top. I enjoyed the 1# thoroughbred best of all of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonder is just that - a wonder A Horse Called Wonder by Joanna Campbell is by far the best Thoroughbred Book in the series. Campbell's enchanting story-telling style gives the feeling that you are there, whether it is galloping on a speeding racehorse, bottle-feeding a helpless foal or shouting angry words at the enemy. Campbell's words make you feel like you know the characters, inside and out. Ashleigh (the main character) is described as young, stubborn and compassionate. This book is a must - follow a sickly foal's progress as she is nursed back to health by a twelve-year-old girl named Ashleigh Griffin.
