about

In this New York Times bestseller, follow the author of The Notebook as he travels the world with his brother learning about faith, loss, connection, and hope.

As moving as his bestselling works of fiction, Nicholas Sparks's unique memoir, written with his brother, chronicles the life-affirming journey of two brothers bound by memories, both humorous and tragic. In January 2003, Nicholas Sparks and his brother, Micah, set off on a three-week trip around the globe. It was to mark a milestone in their lives, for at thirty-seven and thirty-eight respectively, they were now the only surviving members of their family.

Against the backdrop of the wonders of the world and often overtaken by their feelings, daredevil Micah and the more serious, introspective Nicholas recalled their rambunctious childhood adventures and the tragedies that tested their faith. And in the process, they discovered startling truths about loss, love, and hope.

Narrated with irrepressible humor and rare candor, and including personal photos, THREE WEEKS WITH MY BROTHER reminds us to embrace life with all its uncertainties...and most of all, to cherish the joyful times, both small and momentous, and the wonderful people who make them possible.

With over 100 million copies of his books sold, Nicholas Sparks is one of the world's most beloved storytellers. His novels include fifteen #1 New York Times bestsellers, and all of his books, including Three Weeks with My Brother, the memoir he wrote with his brother, Micah, have been New York Times and international bestsellers, and ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I recommend for fans of Sparks for sure! I'm a long-time fan of Nicholas Sparks' novels, but his memoir had been sitting on my shelf unread, for years. I'm so glad I finally read it. I enjoyed reading about his adventures as an adult with his older brother, but I loved reading about his childhood even more. This book also really gave me an insight into why most of his books don't have happy endings. He and his brother suffered more personal losses than most, at a young age. This book was funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heightens my understanding Reading this helped me understand where Nicholas Sparks got the ideas for his novels. He certainly has experienced quite a bit of loss in his own life and I find it incredible that he was able to do something positive with it. He has touched many readers' hearts with his stories.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Surprising Interesting insight into what you imagine to be a charmed life of a number 1 best selling author but his life growing up is quite different to what I pictured, struck by tragedy and even now is an emotional roller coaster for him. It is an endearing read and you will recognise where many of his characters originate from.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre In all honesty, I found this book a bit boring during parts, but it offers great insight into the life of Nicholas Sparks and will give you a greater appreciation of his own story and how it affects those he writes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Novel This memoir by Nicholas Sparks was amazing to read. I loved reading about my favourite authors life. Although some of the places he visits were a bit hard to keep concentrated on since I didn't know much about those places, but the parts about his life were well worth reading this book. Reading this book made me see Nicholas Sparks in a whole new light. He isn't just my favourite author anymore but someone that I know has felt the pains of life just like any other person in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Book! It's called "Three Weeks with My Brother" but I eagerly read this book in about five days. I absolutely loved this book. It's more than the story of a journey shared by two brothers; it invites readers to learn about growing up in the Sparks' family. I laughed and cried while reading this book. The Sparks' have endured many tragedies all the while continuing to keep a positive attitude. The brothers have a strong bond that is clearly evident in this novel and I truly enjoyed reading about them. If you have read any of Nicholas Sparks' other novels you will love this one as well. Also, you will understand where the inspiration came for his other novel. The plots, the characters, and the settings have influences from his personal life. I would absolutely recommend this book, regardless of if you have read any Nicholas Sparks' books. You may want to pick them up after reading this book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A touching reminiscence Nicholas Sparks embarks on a trip with his older brother Micah that takes them not only around the world but also through their own lives. The book shows how through the process of going around the world together the two brothers, the two surviving members of their branch of the Sparks family (not including their kids) learned and grew as boys and then men. The book will make you laugh in some parts, and cry in others: however more than that it will make you think and realise that there is more to life than worldly things. In the end Micah and Nicholas each learn valuable lessons among them that nobody said life was fair and what you need and what you want are two entirely different things .
