Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait for more from this author! I loved this journey back to a much simpler yet infinitely more complicated time. Greenwood makes it very easy for readers to picture themselves transported into the story. Her spot on descriptions bring the Arizona territory to live in a real way. This carries through to her exquisitely vivid descriptions throughout the novel. Greenwood?s eloquent yet inviting writing style really allows you to focus on the story at hand. The subplots were just as intriguing as the main story and added to the complexity and enjoyment of the novel as a whole. I fell in love with the main characters in this novel through Greenwood?s presentation of them. They were such unique yet realistic individuals fighting against both their pasts and their presents that you can?t help but appreciate them. My heart was on the line alongside these two. Watching Laurie gain her independence and belief in herself as she overcomes her past was very empowering. The contrast between the different characters was very marked but, as they say, it takes all kinds to make a village. There is someone for everyone to love and there is someone for everyone to hate. I thoroughly enjoyed this variety of characters. The close knit relationship between those at the ranch and those within the village as a whole was nice to see. The dialogue and exchanges between the characters in this novel made me laugh out loud more than once. This is one of those stories that ends perfectly even though you never want it to end. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
