Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except . . . she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her . . . and more.

Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking . . . and wondering . . . and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except . . . he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was a large brute of a man, rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled . . . and when he kissed her . . . the rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder . . . could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sir philp I enjoyed every moment of this book the sweet and sad . The moment when they understand their love for each other. Let say Eloise is a force of nature that will change everyone around her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful. I knew Eloise's story would be special. But I didn't think it would be this wonderful. I've just finished this book with happy tears falling down my face. No higher praise can I think of, except perhaps that I can't wait to read it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It started with a note... At first it was kinda draggy, but nearing the middle -- especially after the 4 Bridgerton brothers made their appearance -- the story started to pick up the pace and I couldn't stop laughing the entire time I was reading it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Good One I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I have never met a character like Phillip who felt so tortured and always tried to do what was best for everyone but himself (even though what he was doing, may have done more harm than good). Phillip deserves so much more....and in comes our Heroine, Eloise to make him feel confident and worthy. I felt for Phillip and really saw into his vulnerability and insecurities, and the scene near the end of the novel almost had me weeping for him. I recommend this book not just if you are into the Bridgerton series, but because you like a good read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it I have been following the Bridgerton's from the first book (The Duke and I), and I have not been disappointed with any of them. This book was very entertaining, and a very fast read. You will not be able to put it down. You will also re-meet characters from her previous books regarding this series which is an added bonus. Simply great.
