about

Good girl gone bad... Evie Bell left behind her good girl childhood in Fairview when she moved to Vegas to become a showgirl and sex toy saleswoman. When she returns to her small hometown in Tennessee to help her ailing aunt, she doesn't plan to remain in a town that's disappointed in her transformation.

Bad boy gone good...At eighteen, Griff Barstow was given a choice: jail or the military. He chose the military, straightened out, and now he's back in Fairview and running for sheriff. The very last thing he needs while trying to convince the town he's changed is an attraction to a woman with a reputation of her own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Second Chances and Finding a Place to Fit ** Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review ** -- MY THOUGHTS > Judging a Book by it's Cover: Cute, young adult couple. Fresh faces and background. Synopsis sounds like a bunch of fun. Looking Deeper: Former Vegas showgirl turn sex toy merchant, Evie, returns to the sleepy, conservative small Tennessee town where her aunt raised her for the last of childhood years after her mom passed away. It's her turn to step up when she receives a phone call asking her to come back to help her aunt, who's suffered a broken leg. But Evie discovers, more, that Patricia's business is flailing and skirting the red and someone's not happy about her attempts to save the shop. Can Evie's business skills help Patricia's store without the conservative townfolk forming a full-on lynch mob? Seems the only one qualified to keep it from happening is Evie's teen bad boy crush turned sheriff, Griff. They have a major case of opposites attract, but how can they make it work in such a nosy, uptight town? There are some fun characters in this story, and some you can't help but love to hate. The chemistry is enjoyable, dialogue is smart and witty, interactions are believable. The plot is mostly light, fun and easy to read with a fluidity and ease to the writing. There are some conflicts along the way, nothing so heavy as to drag the story down, but enough to add some dynamic and dimension to the plot. The resolutions are found in practical manners. There was not a lot of predictability at all. The conclusion felt a little rushed and abrupt, leaving off some things that would have been better closed in an epilogue such as: Did Leah pay for her crimes? What became of Rosie? Did Mrs. Branck's fears abate after Jack's arrival? What becomes of Evie's Vegas friends? The story read very well and I would be interested in reading the next book in this series. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heat Level: 3.5 [PG13 - R] ~ Score: 4.2 ~ Stars: 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------
