Traces is a Christian horror novella about the dangers of unresolved sexual abuse. This creative work examines sexual trauma, investigates its spiritual strongholds, and challenges those who struggle with such trauma (directly or indirectly) to cast aside thoughts that support an "I'm unhealable" belief. This story is spiritually grounded in Christian teachings that emphasize God's mercy and omnipotence and is grounded in cognitive and rhetorical theories of narrative buttressed by ethnographic and biopsychosocial research. The aim of this project is to create a literary portrait of, and rhetorical device for, exploring the cathartic and therapeutic possibilities of fiction for the treatment of those who have been sexually abused and those who are in the victim-to-victimizer cycle. Traces can be beneficial to anyone who seeks to personally inspect deviant sexual behavior that is rooted in childhood sexual trauma and the spiritual and psychological setbacks that often accompany such abuse.
