Essay aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich BWL - Allgemeines, Note: 1,7, , Veranstaltung: Human Aspect of Product Development and Quality, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: This essay addresses the problem of the trade-offs and relationships between speed-to-market, success, and quality of newly developed products. The question if a trade-off between speed-to-market of new product development processes and the quality of newly developed products exists and to which extent it can be damped is part of this report. Furthermore the possible contributions of individuals and teams respectively, as well as possible organizational aspects to minimize the detriments of the trade-offs are analyzed. The results provide different methods of cutting the development cycle time without degrading quality. It revealed that using cross-functional teams under the lead of an experienced team project manager as well as enhanced information sharing are outstanding instruments for speeding up the development process. Moreover, staying in close contact to customers helps to achieve shorter development cycle times.
