When Larry King announced he would step down from his nightly live broadcast after more than 40,000 interviews, it signalled the end of an era in television history. At the same time, drama surrounding Larry's personal life was playing out in the headlines. Truth Be Told is a revealing and irresistibly entertaining look back on Larry's remarkable run at CNN, an honest look at Larry's own life, and a behind-the-scenes bird's-eye view of some of the marvellous people Larry has met and talked to throughout his career.

This difficult period caused Larry to realize how much the world around him had changed over the course of his 50-year career. Looking at today's cultural and political luminaries as examples, Larry reflects on these changes and has a lot to say about everything and everyone: from marriage, politics, sports, and entertainment to the justice system, broadcasting, and the American future. This is a candid and surprising look inside the monumental career of one of the most powerful and legendary talk-show hosts as he signs off from the nightly television program that has been close to all of our hearts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Like Having A Cup of Coffee with Larry Picture yourself having a cup of coffee with Larry King. There the two of you are sipping coffee and Larry recounting all the interviews he has done and his thoughts on current events. I've always said, Larry King and Ronald Reagan have lead perhaps the most interesting lives of anyone. Sure sports stars and others in the entertainment industry have had fascinating lives but Larry King is one who has gone from rags to riches. He has met with such a cross variety of people and has gotten them to reveal there inner most thoughts and he's never changed who he is really is -- he has stayed true to himself and that's what makes him great and there will never be anyone else like him. His type of show has been replaced by reality shows and self serving political shows. In truth, Anderson Cooper is the next best Larry King. Side note: Anderson Cooper's book is tremendous -- his has seen things that are unbelievable. The biggest problem with Truth Be Told is that it was too damn short. This book could easily be volume one. It is a very quick read, one that will have the reader laughing out loud. 5 Stars for Larry and I truly hope the best is yet to come.
