I do wish there was a greater emphasis on the recipes with pictures and perhaps more options to go through. I'd also have enjoyed a plant based meal plan to go alongside the omnivore one for variety and choice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too simple and common sense, but liked the second half of the book. I was really excited to get this book so when I ordered it, I paid extra for rush delivery. I thought I'd read this in bed but was a lil disappointed because all the pages are matte which makes the book a bit more heavier. I also thought the author would explain inflammation right away but she didn't, not until like chapter 5. A lot of the information in the first few chapters are things someone should already know. I got bored and skipped many paragraphs. I felt like my attention shifted quickly from one thing to another and was too broad thus felt like I was all over the place. This book is great for people who don't know much about nutrition and the negative effects of an inflammatory diet. I like to dig deep down to the cellular part when I read about health and nutrition so typically I read scientific articles because they really explain exactly what goes on in a cell. I have read other books on something else and got more information on inflammation than I did with this book. There are some important points she missed to include, such as taking antibiotics kills both the good and bad bacteria which can cause chronic inflammation if not taken with probiotics or the fact that inflammation in the gut leads to inflammation to the brain which is tied to ADHD, etc. However, I do like the self quizzes, lists of food, meal plan, and recipes (though I am a visual person I would have liked to see photos of all recipes).

This book helps you understand the 'why' behind the 'how' in such a simple, straightforward, and humorous way that it's easy to apply in day to day life. The kick-start eating plan even came with the recipes and grocery list to make the first steps easy, and more importantly sustainable. I love, love, LOVE, this book!

I consider myself to be a fairly healthy person but this book showed me what it means to be truly healthy! I learned so much from it and it got really exciting when it talked about the food swaps and the recipes! I'm a sweet tooth and the recipe for black bean brownies was so delicious! Definitely a great value for such an insightful book!

Written with compassion, humour and filled with information on how simple and fulfilling a gradual change in routine can be. If you sincerely want to make different, healthier food choices this book simplifies and demystifies the path forward.
