I never believed in ghosts.
Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, she doesn't realize that paranormal forces are responsible--not until mysterious identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into her room and destroy a deadly spirit sent to kill her.

Kennedy learns that her mother's death was no accident, and now she has to take her place in the Legion of the Black Dove--a secret society formed to protect the world from a vengeful demon. A society left in the hands of a misfit group of teens with unique skills: Jared, combat trained, with a temper to match; Lukas, rogue hacker and code breaker; Alara, whose attitude is as powerful as her voodoo protections; and Priest, an engineer capable of making a weapon out of a soda can.

As the teens use their individual talents to battle paranormal entities, they earn their rightful places in the Legion--except for Kennedy, who is left wondering if she is truly one of them.

Can she stay alive long enough to find out--without losing her heart in the process?

Protect Yourself.
What you can't see CAN hurt you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Book. I wasn't expecting to love this book as much as I do. I read it all in less than one day it was that good. It's full of Supernatural vibes and perfect for someone who loves Supernatural or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Don't read it if you get scared easily of ghosts or demons. You'll be hooked instantly by this book and be craving for Unmarked as soon as you finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Book Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! It is one of my top, top, top FAVORITE book of all times. The story lines is just so interesting and the characters names are just so beautiful. Plus, there is twins in this book! Come on, who doesn't like twins? They are so interesting to watch. If you hadn't read this book yet, put it on your to-read this and go read it. Seriously, you will not regret it. It is just so awesome and amazing. Even if you don't like the author's other series "beautiful creatures", still go try this one out. You won't regret trying it. It is just absolutely brilliant and wonderful. And trust me, you will fall in love with both of the twins: Lucas and Jerad. Just the name itself sounds cool. Anyways, if you hadn't read this book, go check it out and fall in love with it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A nice surprise! I wasn't expecting this mystery surrounding a secret society combined with ghost busting. And I was happy that it was something different from all the other books that I read. I rather enjoyed it minus the lovey dovey romance. There were scary instances where I felt creeped out. I could imagine everything happening like watching a movie in front of my eyes. I don't like getting scared in books and it doesn't help that I read this in two sittings well into the night. The pacing is fast, and I loved it. I pretty much devoured it in just two sittings and it helped that it was pretty short. Right from the get-go things happen and they happen quickly. It turns out to be the catalyst for the entire story no matter how morbid it became. I wasn't a big fan of the love triangle. I didn't think it was necessary to have both twin brothers be interested in the shiny new toy that was Kennedy. There was also the lack of personality from all of the characters. Where were their shining personalities, and the sarcasm? There was too much brooding and not enough development for my taste. Glad that I took a chance on this one because I was highly entertained. The pacing was pretty much perfect. The story was interesting enough to keep going and the characters were good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Really Didn't Expect That Before I even start talking about this book i feel i should disclose that I am a HUGE Supernatural fan. (If you haven't seen the show but liked this book i definitely recommend it) That being said i was a little apprehensive when i picked this one up. Two brothers hunting ghosts and demons? Sounded a little too familiar (again for those who've never seen SPN, it's about 2 brothers who hunt demons, vampires, werewolves and all other kinds of nasty... There's even angels) but I decided to give this book a try cause the idea still appealed to me. Once I got past the few similarities between them, I really fell in love with the book and it's characters which was something I really didn't expect. It really is a fun read and I finished it in 2 days. Definitely recommend to anyone who's a fan of the horror/paranormal/religious mythology worlds, I can't wait to read the rest!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Protect Yourself My first experience with ghosts was the TV show Ghost Whisperer, the horrific deaths are what pulled me in. Unbreakable is a bone chilling novel which brings back all the ghost stories from your childhood and makes you relive them all. Kennedy and the hunters take you on an adventure of voodoo and devils. What stood out the most in Unbreakable for me was the hauntings, with every new place the hunters traveled to the ghosts became more creepy and waaay more terrifying. I loved how Kami would put so much creativity into each of the stories behind the hauntings. My favourite would have to be the Hearts of Mercy murders, the innocence of the little children just got to me. Unmarked the sequel to Unbreakable releases October 7th, 2014. Kami Gracia is also a coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures Series.

Editorial Reviews

"'Supernatural' meets 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' Kami Garcia is Joss Whedon's talent-sister! I didn't just read Unbreakable; I lived it. When it comes to supernatural suspense, Garcia is the Slayer."-Nancy Holder, New York Times bestselling author of Buffy: the Making of a Slayer & the Wicked saga
