about

In her small town, dubbed "Dullsville," sixteen-year-old Raven -- a vampire-crazed goth-girl -- is an outcast. But not for long...

The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people -- especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.

Ellen Schreiber's spooky and stirring romance tells the story of two outsiders who fall in love in a town where conformity reigns, and ends with a shocking surprise.

Ellen Schreiber was an actress and a stand-up comedienne before becoming a writer and moving to her own Dullsville. She is the author of Teenage Mermaid, Comedy Girl, Vampire Kisses, Vampire Kisses 2: Kissing Coffins, Vampire Kisses 3: Vampireville, Vampire Kisses 4: Dance with a Vampire, Vampire Kisses 5: The Coffin Club, Vampire Kiss...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting Spin I love how she actually wants to be a vampire.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cliches everywhere! I gave this book one star because I was laughing at the stupidity of it all, so it needed a star for laughter. Honestly, this book is all cliches from the main character Raven to her love interest to even the town they live in. While this book claims the main characters are sixteen they act like they are twelve, max. Which is unsettling. I couldn't understand the love for this book with such high reviews, it wasn't worth more than two stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Goth Vampires...Need I Say More? All her life, Raven has wanted to be a vampire. She is teased because of this, and only has one close friend. When Alexander Sterling moves into the vacant, supposedly haunted mansion that Raven often visits, she finds evidence that his family may be vampires. I enjoyed this book because of the light, humorous writing style and the well-developed characters. I was able to relate to Raven and I admired her strong sense of who she is. I recommend this book to those who would like a vampire story with humor and without any gore or violence. Since the book used traditional vampire lore as opposed to many vampire books in the young adult genre, there are few that are very similar. “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer and L.J Smith’s “Night World” may appeal to fans of Ellen Schreiber, and vice versa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing. I picked this book up just because the word vampire was in the title. I love vampires. I loved it from the first page to the last. I have the second book sitting in my room at the moment and can't wait to start it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE Best This book has been the best I've read this year, and I read alot of books. I'm 16 and really enjoyed it, so it's not for people just 10-12. Anyone who likes stories about an abnormally relatable girl who lives in a small town and isn't afraid to be herself will definitly fall in love with this. Fiction with non-fiction, best stuff there is out there. Go and pick this book up (I suggest buying it) and read it and try to put it down. then go and buy the series. Good Readers =]
