Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vanished Has a Magical Storyline Firewall DiAnn Mills Book Summary: After a whirlwind romance, Taryn Young is preparing to board a plane at Houston International Airport, bound for a dream honeymoon, when a bomb decimates the terminal. Injured but still alive, she awakens to discover her husband is missing and they?re both considered prime suspects in the attack. Further, the FBI is convinced her husband isn?t who he appears to be. Agent Grayson Hall?s number-one priority is to catch those responsible for the day?s act of terror. All evidence is pointing to Taryn and her new husband. But his instinct tells him her pleas of innocence are genuine. Is her naivet? just for show, or could she truly be another victim of a master scheme, possibly linked to the software she recently developed for her company? With both their lives and reputations on the line, and the media outcry for justice increasing with each passing minute, Taryn and Grayson have no choice but to trust one another . . . and pray they can uncover the truth before they become two more casualties. Review: From the moment I started the book right through the very end it was non-stop! The action and story was moving so fast that I was on pins and needles for the majority of the time. I had to put the book down just to calm my pounding heart. The twists and turns were fantastic! It was as if the bad guys always knew where she was and there were so many of them that I was just daunting at times. Taryn was a multifaceted character with lots of personality and easy to like and empathize with. She was exceedingly smart, surprising in the things she did and well written. This is the first book by DiAnn Mills that I have read and I will be looking forward to reading many more. I would like to thank Net Galley and Tyndale House Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suspenseful! Take a stormy night, a tenacious reporter and add an accident; a woman's killed, then vanishes under mysterious circumstances. It's an exciting opening to a novel that keeps the reader spellbound. Cal Burke,a private detective who still struggles with the nightmare of losing his wife tragically is suddenly captivated not only with Moira Harrison's case but with the spirited and intelligent woman herself. Bitten by a need to discover an answer to the mystery, he takes on the case and armed with few clues, Moria and his company's partners- Dev and Connor- he sets out on a journey of discovery that will test his skill as a private detective as well as his faith. I loved his partners Dev and Connor; their friendship, loyalty, and their easy banter that left Cal uneasy at times about his growing feelings for Moira. I liked Nikki Waters, the spiky haired, tattooed, and highly intelligent receptionist who works for the private investigation firm called Phoenix Inc.; a woman Moira underrates and stereotypes when she first meets her. The story is filled with twists and turns and multiple surprises as the mystery begins to unfold. I highly recommend it and am eager to read the next book in the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a genuine thriller Looking for a suspense writer? Irene Hannon to the rescue once again. Vanished, just the title causes one to desire this novel. The blurb on the back is enough to have you pulling out your wallet, if the name of the author hasn't done that already. Dramatic, well written with twists and turns and enough uncertainty and suspense on each page to keep you turning it in anticipation. Difficult if not downright impossible to put down. It is a legal thriller, the first in the Private Justice series, but as always, Irene does a fabulous job of making the dark and heavy work of lawyers easily navigable for the uninitiated reader. It does not take Irene many pages to have the reader deeply immersed in reporter Moira's mind, and to feel the frustration of finding no one who believes that she saw what she knows she saw, the terror of the unknown and the disappointment of the roadblocks she encounters. The characters are well rounded, though not all as well liked as Moira, Cal and Dev. Things are not all as they may appear, and the answer is not easily found. Irene Hannon is one author that is on my Keeper shelf. I received this book free from Revell Publishing and Julie Warkentin for the purpose of reviewing. A postive critique was not required, only an honest one. The opinions stated are my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every minute! Now this may utterly shock you, but I've never read a book by Irene Hannon before. I know, I know, that's simply crazy to consider when she's written over 35 novels! However, I'm glad to report that I've finally joined the club - and it was worth every minute! The opening scenes of Vanished were perfect, grabbing me with their intensity and immediately absorbing me into the story. The beginning of Moira's bizarre tale left me wondering what on earth was going on, and as the story unfolded layer by layer I found myself hooked by the suspense, while growing ever fonder of the characters Moira and the PI, Cal. Their relationship develops with a nice touch of romance and one that I found to be realistic rather than over the top, two individuals striving to overcome some deep hurts from their past. The story doesn't spend a lot of time on issues of faith, but does touch on the topic of prayer, morals, and ethical questions. The writing is free of anything that would offend a reader, and as such will appeal to a broad fan base. Irene Hannon is a talented author who can spin a splendid yarn that features solid characterization, action-packed suspense, and romance that will no doubt leave readers grinning. Honestly, what more could you ask for? I give this book a solid recommendation and a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enthralling Suspense Complex characters create intriguing relationships that make Vanished an exceptional read. The suspense is enthralling with intricate details that gradually lead Moira and Cal closer and closer to the truth...and inevitable danger. Hannon's pacing is impeccable. Each scene compliments the next, building steadily to a nail-biting conclusion. The romance builds steadily in a realistic way. I appreciate the time the author gave to developing Cal and Moira's relationship. I experienced the nerves, the giddy euphoria, the hesitant hope of new love right along with them. I'm in awe of the way Hannon's mind works. The suspense details and how she threads them together kept me turning pages. This is the kind of book you want to read in one sitting. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Amazon has just named Vanished one of the best books of the month and a top ten romance release for January. How's that for a great recommendation? Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE! Great start to a great new series by the fabulous Irene Hannon! This story opens with a bang on a dark and dreary night and doesn't let up until the last page. Great storyline, character development with a plot that moves along very nicely. This story is such a page turner that I found myself trying to find "extra" minutes here and there to read! Reporter Moira Harrison and PI Cal Burke are strong leading characters, very likeable and real. I would highly recommend this book. Worth your time! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mystery pulls you in and keeps you reading ‘til the last word! When you’re the only witness to a terrible accident that no one believes really happened who do you turn to for justice? Irene Hannon introduces a great new romantic suspense series with this first book in her Private Justice series featuring the Private Investigators at Phoenix Inc. In Vanished, Hannon delivers what I’ve come to expect—a tight mystery with intriguing, well-developed characters who when faced with adversity don’t shy away from it. I’m a bit disappointed that she keeps the faith aspect so light in her books. Hannon sidesteps a perfect opportunity in Vanished to explore a common question that Christians share; why our heavenly father allows bad things to happen to his children—a difficult aspect of faith to be sure, but one that other authors, like Dee Henderson, handle so well. Yet, if you’re looking for a clean modern mystery with a touch of romance you’ve landed in the perfect place. Once again Hannon pulls you in and keeps you reading ‘til the last word. Reporter Moira Harrison is new on the job in St. Louis, but she’s no rookie to investigative reporting. She knows how to dig for answers and get results. But when she hits a pedestrian on a rainy night in a wooded area—only to have both the victim and the good Samaritan who stopped to assist disappear—she turns to P.I. Cal Burke, an ex-homicide detective, to help her sort out the puzzle. Cal is more than a little skeptical of her story, especially since the police have dismissed it. But as clues begin to surface, bringing them closer to answers, the danger mounts. Because someone doesn’t want this mystery solved—and will stop at nothing to protect a shocking secret that will destroy a life built on lies.
