Soon to be a major Netflix animated miniseries starring James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, and Oscar and Grammy award-winner Sir Ben Kingsley.

A worldwide bestseller for more than forty years, Watership Down is the compelling tale of a band of wild rabbits struggling to hold onto their place in the world—“a classic yarn of discovery and struggle” (The New York Times).

Richard Adams’s Watership Down is a timeless classic and one of the most beloved novels of all time. Set in the Hampshire Downs in Southern England, an idyllic rural landscape, this stirring tale of “suspense, hot pursuit, and derring-do” (Chicago Tribune) follows a band of rabbits in flight from the incursion of man and the destruction of their home. Led by a stouthearted pair of brothers, they travel forth from their native Sandleford warren through harrowing trials to a mysterious promised land and a more perfect society. “A marvelous story of rebellion, exile, and survival” (Sunday Telegraph) this is an unforgettable literary classic for all ages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite book of all time, it's very well written. and although many would think it's a kids book... it is about bunnies after all, and talking ones at that. It is really not. Nor is the movie that game out based on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always a Classic! Watership Down is really for adults not kids as the tale of these bunnies reflects issues in today's society. There are class issues, freedom (the Warren) versus totalitarianism (Efrafa) and so much more. I thought I'd be bored reading about rural English rabbits but instead was captivated by the tale of Hazel, Bigwig and all his lapine allies. Some of the old English terminology may be a challenge but you will appreciate rabbits after this book!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Classic if you grew up on it "A timeless classic and one of the most beloved novels of all time." I think these words would ring more true to me if I'd read this book as a kid. It was good, and in some places it was a page turner, but, in a lot of places I was skipping pages of descriptive text to get to the action. Did I want to know what happened to the bunnies, definitely, would I read it again, definitely not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable for All Ages! This book is quite interesting. Really nothing is better (and sometimes nothing is funnier) than Watership Down. it tells the tales of a bunch of bunnies that need to find a new home. Their adventures are unique and the characters are special. Worth the read!
