Part science book, part journey into the untapped potential of the human spirit, this is the remarkable story of a 94-year-old track and field champion (not retired).

More remarkably, she's not alone; there are men and women all over the world competing at ages at which most of us will be lucky even to be alive. But her secret, and theirs, isn't just the luck of the gene pool. It's in the stories of how they exploit their genetic good fortune where the lessons for the rest of us may be found.
Author Bruce Grierson, whose much-read 2010 New York Times Magazine piece first brought attention to Olga's remarkable story, accompanies the nonagenarian Canadian to track meets to see her in action, and to research facilities around North America where he and medical researchers hope to learn the secrets of her thriving tissues and age-resistant DNA. Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much information I love this book and can't believe what I am learning from it. It makes me look hard at the 90+ women I know and think about how they live as well as they do. We should all do so well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re-thinking Aging ! I bought this book a month ago and I love it. Almost at the end and will reread it, highlighter in hand. Reading this book has resulted in my making very important changes in my life. In my late 60's, I had better learn now some things I can do, having read about Olga and her health and vibrancy into her 90's. Written very well with both Science and anecdotes, this book is a perfect way to remind us that we can do better; we don't have to sit all day or give in to old age. Thank you, Olga and thank you, Bruce Grierson for writing this book.
