The 'Aphorisms' appears to have been submitted to some friend in manuscript; for in complete copies of the book there is found the following:--'An Appendix to the foregoing Treatise being an answer to the Objections of a Friend concerning some points therein contained, and at his own desire annexed for the sake of others that may have the same thoughts,'pp. 188. In the 'Reliquite Baxterta-nee' No. cliv. Baxter gives a characteristic ac count of the origin and reception of the 'Aphorisms.'
