Sarah Mlynowski's charming new series puts a fresh, modern spin on classic fairy tales!

Mirror, mirror, on the basement wall...

Once upon a time my brother and I were normal kids. The next minute? The mirror in our basement slurped us up and magically transported us inside Snow White's fairy tale.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's true.

But hey - we're heroes! We stopped Snow White from eating the poisoned apple. Hooray! Or not. If Snow White doesn't die, she won't get to meet her prince. And then she won't get her happy ending. Oops.

Now it's up to us to:
1. Avoid getting poisoned
2. Sneak into a castle
3. Fix Snow White's story

And then, fingers crossed, find our way home.

SARAH MLYNOWSKI is the author of Bras & Broomsticks, Frogs & French Kisses, Spells & Sleeping Bags, Parties & Potions, Gimme A Call, and Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have). Originally from Montreal, Sarah now lives in the kingdom of Manhattan with her very own prince charming and their fairy-tale-loving daughter. Visit Sar...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a fun read! I read this a few years back when it first came out and it was amazing! I loved it! I wanted more! It is such a beautiful and fun story filled with so much adventure. I will never forget this book. It is just sad that when the first book came out I was already a little older so I never got the chance to read the whole series but I know it will all be fantastic. I wish this series could have came around when I was more younger! Sarah Mlynowski is amazing!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well written and enjoyable story Abby is not happy about moving and she is certainly not happy about having to change schools. When her brother's night time prowling around the house wakes her up, she is mad, mad enough to get out of bed and find him. When she does, he's in front of an old mirror that was left in their basement by the previous owners. They are about to find out that by knocking on the mirror three times they will be launched into a fantastic adventure. The Whatever After series is a wonderful middle grade set that will entertain boys and girls alike. For children who are familiar with the classic fairy tales, they will have fun trying to figure out how Abby and Jonah can help the characters get their tales back on track. Parent note, this is suitable for younger children who are reading at a higher level. I enjoyed listening to the audio book as read by Emily Eiden. Unabridged edition 3 hours 20 minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Creative and funny This book is the classic Snow White story with a twist. My niece thinks the ending is very cool, better than the original version. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very interesting My kids (ages 10-12) didn't find this book for appealing. Apparently the introduction is too long?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charming and Funny The Good Stuff Charming and sweet Reminded me of some of Meg Cabot's middle grade Perfect for the reluctant reader Loved the humour, quirky and fun (very Canadian) It was refreshing to read a novel geared towards young girls that was sweet and innocent. It was the sort of thing I would have loved to read at that age. I know quite a few customers at my store that will enjoy this one - sold a copy of it last week to this sweet little girl - she read the first page and said mom we have to buy this Great opening paragraph - will hook the reader in right away - also made me giggle and I am 42 Nice twist on the fractured fairy tale genre good role model for young girls The Not So Good Stuff Would have liked a little more development but hey this is written for a young girl not an old mom Favorite Quotes/Passages "Maybe in Smithville a room filled with books is called a media room, but it smells just like the libray in my old, normal school. Musty. Dusty. Papery." "My whole body tenses. I do not like hissing. Especially hissing mirrors." "That's not the real story. That's the Disney version." Who Should/Shouldn't Read Perfect for the reluctant reader Fans of Meg Cabot's MG stuff will enjoy 4 Dewey's I received this from Scholastic in exchange for an honest review
