"Loved this book! Great characters, great story, & so much swooning!" -Cindi Madsen, USA Today bestselling author

Life loves a good curveball.

Seventeen-year-old Annie Lucas's life is completely upended the moment her dad returns to the major leagues as the new pitching coach for the Kansas City Royals. Now she's living in Missouri (too cold), attending an all-girls school (no boys), and navigating the strange world of professional sports. But Annie has dreams of her own-most of which involve placing first at every track meet.and one starring the Royals' super-hot rookie pitcher.

But nineteen-year-old Jason Brody is completely, utterly, and totally off-limits. Besides, her dad would kill them both several times over. Not to mention Brody has something of a past, and his fan club is filled with C-cupped models, not smart-mouthed high school "brats" who can run the pants off every player on the team. Annie has enough on her plate without taking their friendship to the next level. The last thing she should be doing is falling in love.

But baseball isn't just a game. It's life. And sometimes, it can break your heart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I absolutely loved this novel! This story had me captivated from the very first page. It is an incredible standalone with a HEA. This is my first book by Julie Cross; however, after this book, it definitely won't be the last. Annie Lucas is a 17 year old with aspirations to have a career on the track. Out of the blue, one day her dad gets a phone call and is offered the job of a lifetime. He is offered to be a pitching coach for the Kansas City Royals Baseball team. It is because of this that they then move away from their "home" and begin a life in a new place. In Kansas Annie runs into Jason Brody. Jason Brody, the next big thing in baseball. A 19 year old who dropped out of high school is now living the life many only dream of having. With him being 19 of course he is drawn to Annie. The only problem, she's the coaches daughter and underage. You can't help love though and these two are quickly developing feelings for each other. I absolutely loved this novel. Everything about it captivated and drew me in from the start until the very last page. I definitely recommend reading this book to anyone in the mood for a light, yet compelling read. HUGE 5 STARS!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review from This is the Story of My(Reading) Life I was at a stand still with the books I was currently reading, so I needed something to pull me out of my funk. That's where my YA and NA contemps come in. Whatever Life Throws At You was a much needed read. It's definitely nothing special. But it's a sweet romance. It's right on the cusp of NA. The MC is still in high school, but the romance gets a little steamy. Nothing really graphic. I liked it. I also love books centered around sports. I may not be a big baseball fan, but when you base a good romance book around it than I suddenly love it and want to go to a game. The writing was definitely not the best, but it was good enough to keep me reading. I think this is one of those times where the book is read at the perfect moment. Definitely enjoyed Whatever Life Throws At You. Really recommend for newbies to NA or especially someone that is hesitant to give the genre a go.
