Completely revised and expanded brand-new edition of Volume I, the first book in the Whiskey poetry trilogy!

Whiskey, Words, and a Shovel, Vol. 1, is about reclaiming your power on the path to a healthy relationship. It is a testament to choosing to love yourself, even if it means heartbreak.

Originally released in 2015, this re-rerelease packs the same punch as the first version, but makes an even greater connection with the soul of the reader. Each piece has been re-seen and revamped to reflect the author’s continuing journey with his partner, Samantha King, without whom this book would not exist. Samantha is the muse, the “she” the writer speaks of; she is every woman who has felt like she wasn’t good enough, and every woman who struggles to find love.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from inspiring I love modern contemporary poetry. what the author wants you to know is right there, you don't have to dissect it looking for the hidden meaning. but yet, you can read the poems a million different ways and get something different that you need out of it. this is the way that rh sin wrote this. some of the poems, not everyone will connect with because they haven't had that life experience yet, but you can still take something from it and learn from it. other poems will hit home because that is exactly how you feel and you didn't think anyone else would ever understand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best out of the collection I recently got into poetry and picked up all three from his collection. I absolutely loved this one, it was a great read. I found it to be the best out of the three, the other two didn't seem to add up to how great this first one was.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It`s Raw and to the Point! Ok well this writer does not sugar coat anything. The boxing gloves are off and he tells you straight which is good. Sometimes being raw and to the point is needed. The truths reveled in his words tells you he has such a deep understanding regarding human emotions.
Date published: 2017-12-08

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Short and Sweet The verses written in the book of poetry are simple, yet speak loud volumes. There are days where I need a boost of encouragement to get through the day, and any page I turn to will give me a sense of belonging. r.h. Sin is defiantly one of my new favourite authors and I devour every word he writes. Highly recommend to tortured souls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I'm not much of a poetry person but this book really struck a chord with me. Maybe it's because I'm going through a tough time right now but the fact of the matter is that it's really helping me and resonating with me. I'm definitely going to be buying the second and the third, and maybe even his newest one! I love this book!

Date published: 2017-09-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Change my mind. Originally I gave this a 'meh' review but after reading it a second time I liked it a whole lot more. Sure some of the lines are cliche and anyone could probably come up with something like that but a lot of them relate to personal struggle and I like that R.H Sin is very pro-women and realizes the difficulties we face.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from loved this! loved reading words about women and self love
Date published: 2017-08-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Liked it, not my favorite. I liked it and you can take a lot from it especially for women regarding self love and appreciation but I feel it's a little over-hyped. I didn't like it as much as I was hoping I would. I still prefer Lang Leav's work over this.
Date published: 2017-08-19
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cool! My sister loved the poems in this book.
Date published: 2017-07-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad There are a lot of poems referring to "lesser men" and the women who wind up choosing to date them. It takes a certain state of mind to get into this subject matter. That being said, I enjoyed the path for a healthy relationship that the writer outlines.
Date published: 2017-07-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from needed this after a life altering divorce, I sat with this book and reclaimed my strength. such simple lines with such depth. If you're going to get this one, get book II and III as well. they are worth having on the shelf to remind us when things get gloomy, of just how special we are.
Date published: 2017-06-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites R. H. Sin has a special way of making you feel like comforted in knowing that you are not the only one who feels the way you feel.

Editorial Reviews

"That [past] relationship continues to fuel his writing, which encourages women to dump lesser men, avoid jerks, and stand up for what they want." (Sheila Marikar, The New Yorker)
