about

According to Wikipedia: "White Fang is a novel by American author Jack London (1876–1916) — and the name of the book's eponymous character, a wild wolfdog. First serialized in Outing magazine, it was published in 1906. The story takes place in Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories, Canada, during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush and details White Fang's journey to domestication. It is a companion novel (and a thematic mirror) to London's best-known work, The Call of the Wild, which is about a kidnapped, domesticated dog embracing his wild ancestry to survive and thrive in the wild. Much of White Fang is written from the viewpoint of the titular canine character, enabling London to explore how animals view their world and how they view humans. White Fang examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of humans."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorites! I can't recommend this book enough! As an animal lover, it appealed to my desire for a story following the life of a wolf from puphood to adulthood, and as someone who loves adventure and excitement I never once found it dull or boring. The story really makes you care about White Fang and root for him to find a home that loves him, after all the pain he goes through in his life. This book is easily one of my favorites... it's a must-read for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect From start to finish, that's what it is: beautiful. Beautifully written, an original story, and there are parts which are even able to make me cry every single time I read them. Even just the descriptions of the wild forests up north are enough to intrigue me. Will be reading this to my kids in the future for bedtime stories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I had to do a book report in Gr.6, one of the only requirements was that she had to examine the book (to make sure it was a chapter book, appropriate, and didn't have pictures) and it had to be from our library. Anyway, I chose White Fang because I wanted to read the classic and I thought it might be a little harder to do a report about a wolf instead of the usual human being. I knew I would love it when I began, reading the excerpt I was honestly astounded by the quality of the writing, the style of the writing and just that little piece of the plot. The book was beautiful, a true masterpiece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heartwarming I've had this book for years, and years but never read it for some reason. That was a mistake, I just finished reading it yesterday and it is wonderful! It is so heartfelt and inspiring. I am so pleased that I finally read it!... "Now growl, damn you, growl!" :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near-Peerless I've enjoyed very few "classic" novels, so I truly mean it when I say that White Fang is absolutely stunning. The amount of emotions London manages to evoke in the reader with a wolf as the main character is nothing short of amazing. It doesn't matter what genre you prefer; chances are, you will love this book.
