Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Wild About You" by Kerrelyn Sparks. Book 13 in the Love at Stake series. In this book, Ms. Sparks takes us on a journey into the were-bear culture. Howard Barr, the resident were-bear at Dragon Nest Academy, finally gets his story told and is paired perfectly with Elsa Bjornberg, a human who is one of the stars of a TV home renovation show. Shanna has decided to play match-maker for Howard. She's just found out that Howard has a dream girl but he doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. Well not if Shanna has anything to say about it. Her new home needs to be renovated and Howard's dream girl, Elsa, is the perfect woman for the job. (Note: how Shanna finds out about Elsa is so funny! I was snickering the whole time!) Howard can't believe Elsa is standing in front of him! This setup has Shanna written all over it...and he couldn't be more grateful. But Elsa doesn't trust him. And why should she? He's determined to prove that he's worthy of her. If he has to reveal that he's a were-bear, so be it. He's not letting Elsa get away. He only hopes the curse on his family doesn't get in the way... Elsa can't believe someone like Howard would take any interest in her. She's the least feminine girl on the planet...she towers over every guy she meets, is into cabinet making and renovating, her nickname is Amazon Ellie, for crying out loud! But Howard is huge! She actually feels dainty around him and that's a real plus for huge, hunky Howard. She could really fall for Howard if the curse didn't get in the way. That stupid curse that says when her birthmark burned, she was going to be killed. Why the hell did it have to be Howard that made her birthmark burn!?! I really enjoyed this story and the glimpse into the were-bear history. Two stories are taking place at the same time in this book: the romance between Howard and Elsa and the plot of Howard getting revenge on Rhett (who was introduced in the last book "Wanted: Undead or Alive"). The only thing that seemed a little "off" was that Howard is portrayed as a strategist in the beginning of the book but he never seems to think of the consequences of his actions. But I guess if he did, there would be no story, now would there? Overall, the story line was excellent. Howard's past is quite sad and Elsa's development into what she becomes is really interesting. (I don't want to say what happens to her because it would ruin the story for you!) This book was a really great read. Can't wait to start the next one!

Editorial Reviews

This wonderful addition to the Love at Stake series focuses on the hero shapeshifter, his family and history, with the vampires taking a backseat. Sparks offers up a fantastic, entertaining story with plenty of old faces and some quite intriguing new ones, all with their own unique powers.
