New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant returns to the Louisiana bayous in the fourth book of her searing Chiasson series filled with breathtaking romance and the mysticism of the paranormal.

Ivy Pierce has had a harder life than most. She suffered tragedy at a young age then spent the next eleven years in and out of hospitals fighting an illness doctors couldn’t identify while watching her mother make sacrifices to take care of her. When Ivy finally gets better, she resigns herself to the fact that she can either have health or love, always afraid that the illness will return. Ivy never wants to burden anyone again, so she makes sure to keep everyone at arm's length. That is until Fate intervenes and puts her on a collision course with a gorgeous, charismatic Hunter who makes her blood burn and her heart skip a beat whenever he's near.  Her biggest battle, however, may be learning that she’s worth saving.

Christian Chiasson dreamed of finding his soul mate - until the night his parents died. His father's bellow of grief that reverberated through the bayou has haunted Christian ever since. To keep his heart safe, Christian is content to let his brothers find romance and continue the family line. Although when Christian crosses paths with a beautiful and brave woman being hunted by minions of the Demon of Souls, he’s drawn to her in a way that cannot be explained.  He suddenly finds that he would walk through the fires of Hell if it means she could live. Now that he’s found her, Christian can't imagine life without her.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Wild Flame" by Donna Grant. Book 4 in the Chiasson series. I just finished reading this novella July 18, 2018. This is my review. I liked this book about Christian and Ivy. The story is a novella so the romance between the couple is very fast. You can read this novella as a stand alone but really the series should be read from the beginning because there is an ongoing story line that runs through all the books. I also recommend reading the LaRue series as well because both series are connected. The main characters in each of the series are cousins to each other and characters from both series can be found in each others' series books. All that being said, this book about Christian (the youngest Chiasson brother) and Ivy (a new character to the series) was really well done. Ivy didn't know anything about the paranormal world until she was attacked by something invisible. It was a good thing Christian was there to save her. His whole family has said they would protect her and find out what she's really facing. There's an obvious attraction between her and Christian but she just can't take the chance to get to know him when she could be dead tomorrow because of whatever is after her. The heartache would be too great. Christian has vowed never to fall in love. He's seen what happened to his father after their mother died. He always wanted a love like his parents had and he thinks he could have it with Ivy. But what if he and his family can't save her? What if he fails protecting her? He just can't take the chance. Or should he savoir the time he has with her because nobody knows what will really happen in the future. He's not sure how long he can deny his feelings for Ivy. The story moves quickly and catches your attention right away. The characters are vibrant and entertaining. The chemistry between Ivy and Christian was very well done. You felt the longing between them and you really want them to be together. Overall, I liked this novella and look forward to reading the next one.
