Rated 5 out of 5 by from History with a Novelist's craft of storytelling Wonderful portrait of Great Britain, in particular London, preparing itself for war. Spotlight is mainly on the Corridors of Power but with the Common Man also getting a look in. The same sort of suspense one experiences in watching the excellent House of Cards sites 2 is evident in this book.
