about

Woefield Farm is a sprawling thirty acres of scrub land, complete with dilapidated buildings and one half-sheared, lonely sheep named Bertie. It’s “run”—in the loosest possible sense of the word—by Prudence Burns, an energetic, well-intentioned twenty-something New Yorker full of back-to-the-land ideals, but without an iota of related skills or experience. Prudence, who inherited the farm from her uncle, soon discovers that the bank is about to foreclose on Woefield Farm, which means that she has to turn things around, fast. But fear not! She’ll be assisted by Earl, a spry seventy-something, banjo-playing foreman with a distrust of newfangled ideas and a substantial family secret; Seth, the alcoholic, celebrity-blogging boy-next-door who hasn’t left the house since a scandal with his high school drama teacher; and Sara Spratt, a highly organized eleven-year-old looking for a home for her prize-winning chickens, including one particularly randy fellow soon to be christened Alec Baldwin.

Full of off-beat charm and characters you won’t soon forget, The Woefield Poultry Collective is a heartwarming novel about learning how to take on a challenge, facing your fears and finding friendship in the most unlikely of places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from God I felt so silly for putting off reading this for so long... I absolutely loved this book, it was just amazing! I cannot even put into words how much I adored each and every character and the plot itself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So, so charming I have read this book at least 3 times now and I still think it's hilarious, in fact, I cant wait to read it again. If you want to read a funny upbeat story with charmingly off-beat characters, I recommend. I especially recommend it to anyone living in BC, Canada, particularly Vancouver Island/Gulf Island as this is where the story is set. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You won't want it to end- charming and memorable Woefield Poultry Collective is a simple story about what it takes to run a farm. However, what makes this book so exceptional is the characters it contains. Each person who makes an appearance at Woefield will become part of your family; the characters are rich, loveable, perfectly flawed, and amusing beyond belief. I found myself daydreaming of Woefield if I wasn't reading it; this book worms its way into your heart and soul, and won't leave easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very funny and yet touching. This is about a group of misfits that happen to come together and eventually form a family. It is laugh out loud funny! Funniest book I've read in a long time. I borrowed it from the library and then bought a copy to read again.
