about

When Hana falls in love with a young interloper she encounters in her college class, the last thing she expects to learn is that he is part wolf. Instead of rejecting her lover upon learning his secret, she accepts him with open arms. Soon, the couple is expecting their first child, and a cozy picture of family life unfolds. But after what seems like a mere moment of bliss to Hana, the father of her children is tragically taken from her. Life as a single mother is hard in any situation, but when your children walk a fine line between man and beast, the rules of parenting all but go out the window. With no one to turn to, how will Hana survive?

Mamoru Hosoda is an internationally acclaimed animator and director who has previously helmed such award-winning movies as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and The Boy and the Beast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely One Of My Favourite Manga Wolf Children is definitely up there in the ranks of my favorite manga. This manga can be a great read for anyone if you're a beginner or experienced in the world of manga. The art is so crisp and clean, it makes my heart feel warm how wonderful and cute the characters are drawn. Watching Ami and Yuki grow up was very interesting, the struggles of being half-wolf half-human are not to be taken lightly. The only thing I wish differently about this manga was the ending, after reading it I felt quite lonely. I feel as though it should have ended a bit differently. But regardless, it's still a great manga that anyone should pick up. (I read it in one full sitting. I was hooked hard( ̄︶ ̄))

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tears. Questions. Worries. Love. A Perfect Story A Beautiful story that captures the struggles of a family in a different understanding. It shows the struggles a single mother who has to raise her own wolf children with no experience whatsoever. It shows just how much a mother can do and what the children must face as they face their both, human and wolf, identities. Discovering more about themselves and their mother learning more about their abilities portrays a simple, and stunning story for anyone to read

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful in every way…. Ps : Get your tissues ready peeps!!!! Wolf Children (Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki), is hands down one of the best manga to be written in a while!!! Mamoru Hosoda completely blows away all expectations with a manga that will really touch you. Wolf Children is a fictional story, yet it never feels like one because of the narrative style. Beautiful story that captures you with it’s first panels. Wolf Children is a story of trials, perseverance, and the love of a family. From the first page to the last you become completely entranced and will wish it were longer. You will cry, smile, be devastated and feel the struggle of the characters, what you will love instantly. The story begins with the start of the eponymous wolf children's parents' love, and progresses through births, deaths, moves, the first day of school, and their growth into adults. The story is almost too ordinary, but in its normality, its moments are universal. One can't help but stare in awe at the beauty of life as it happens, and be reminded of the beauty of one's own mundane yet special lives. It is the very real human emotions and connections that fuel this manga and how you become to attached to the story and the characters and what will happen to them. It touches your heart, not with big moments, but with small ones. The art is just divine and beautiful. Tokyo's bustling life is reduced to warm glows of winter, and the Japanese farms and countryside is rendered beautifully whether it be in rain, sun, or snow. And a shoot out to the best mother in manga in my mind, Hanna! Read it just read it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adorable and Heartfelt Story Beautiful story that captures the moments of the movie adaptation. It is rare to read a story using a female character who is a mother. You will not be disappointed as this is actually an omnibus collection of (3?) manga in one so it is worth buying. You don't have to wait for the rest, they are all bundled along with cute sketches and extra illustrations.
