Temujin, the second son of the khan of the Wolves tribe, was only eleven when his father died in an ambush. His family were thrown out of the tribe and left alone, without food or shelter, to starve to death on the harsh Mongolian plains. It was a rough introduction to his life, to a sudden adult world, but Temujin survived, learning to combat natural and human threats. A man, a small family, without a tribe was always at risk but he gathered other outsiders to him, creating a new tribal identity. It was during some of his worst times that the image of uniting the warring tribes and bringing the silver people together came to him. He will become the khan of the sea of grass, Genghis.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, a pretty enjoyable read I really did enjoy this book and had a hard time putting it down. The only flaw I could find is that it feels incredibly rushed in the last 6 chapters or so. Hopefully the sequels don't suffer from the same fate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, a pretty enjoyable read Game of thrones minus dragons and white walkers. How do you become a man that wants to conquer the world? A foundation in blood, horror, vengeance and a code of honour. Survival and ambition forge the wolf of the plains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to put down Having exhausted all books on Rome, I reluctantly decided to read about the Mongols. My reluctance disappeared after the first couple of chapters and I found it very hard to put the books down. A great read and well written.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wolf of the Plains Author did his research and recites it, which is good. The story its self was really interesting and captivating. This is the second book I've read on Ghengis Khan and this story line is much better. Can't wait to continue with the series.
