In this emotional and highly visual picture book, a lonely letter sets off on a journey to find meaning. As it encounters various letter combinations, it is confronted by two distinct paths and must make an important choice. Readers of all ages will be captivated by this simple, yet high concept, rich story that explores universal themes of discovery, relationships and the need to belong, with an underlying message about bullying. Both timeless and original, Words is an evocative tale about how letters become words and words create meaning - meaning which could ultimately build or destroy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! I love the figurative language and how the story could be understood on many different levels - thought provoking for sure and a nice change of pace for kids literature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible This book assigns moral values to words, marking some as "aggressive" and others as "loving". This isn't the way words should be presented to kids. Individual words are neither good nor bad; they're the building-blocks of language. Teaching kids that some words are good and some are bad is like telling kids that some colours are good and some are bad. It makes no sense, in other words.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Devika What a much needed book in today's day and age. My niece was bullied this past year and I wish more people in the education field got a hold of a book like this to help children understand that words can be devastating. I truly enjoyed this picture book. Highly recommended in my eyes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! There aren't many books that lead to great discussions like this one has with my three kids. I am looking forward to introducing it to my grade 4 class in September. Very relevant to today's schools and in general.
