Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely full of information Kristine Hughes' "The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in Regency and Victorian England from 1811-1901" is as the title tells us the writer's guide, it is full of the day to day rituals that our great great and maybe another great Grandparents would have lived with. From the running of the household; including lighting, heating and plumbing; the kitchen stove taking over from the hob, the cooking of everything from Mock Turlte soup to ice cream, there are a few things that will make the reader thankful for the twenty first century food preparation but still a great book. Hughes takes the reader from birth to burial and everything in between. This is a must have for readers of regency romances, writers of the same, or Jane Austen lovers to see how they really lived without all the romantic bother in the way.
