Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising I'm not usually a fan of this era but I loved this book! Surprising is an understatement. At times light hearted and fun, others dark and deep, this book is a real rollercoaster. Highly recommended, this is one of my favourite books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of my favourite books ever! I have read this book many times and it breaks my heart every time. The characters are dark, they're terrible and wonderful. The love driving Cathy and Heathcliff through their lives is so intense, it's almost breathtaking,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "masterpiece" I think that this is a masterpiece that will be timeless. The characters are all all very complex and have their own uniqueness. Once you have understood what Heathcliff went through, you can give a little room for sympathy towards him. And Catherine deserves props for her crucial role. An all-around compelling story.overall it's a must read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Characters Live Within Us Wuthering Heights is a story that may be of difficult context but is an emotional read. The way the author tells the story is so uniquley done, she uses switches of narration that gives readers a deeper perspective of events. Although the story starts a bit slow and may be a tad confusing, I became attatched to the characters and an eagerness to finish the book overcame me. Bronte writes so that the reader may feel the emotion that the characters feel, explaining in detail each stage of emotion they experience. Lastly, yes, the events within the book may seem unrelenting but the writer does a great job at connecting the story's beginning and end, bringing it full circle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Challenging Classic This was a very difficult read. I have read classics before and was aware that the old english would be a little challenging and possibly confusing, however, I didn't expect the lack of interest I had while reading Wuthering Heights, especially since I had high expectations with it being a classic romance novel. I found that the story just couldn't hold my attention, everything was quite slow and took way too long to progress. This made it even harder to read because I kept putting the book down. Also, I found the switching between the first person telling the story and the third person narrative became quite confusing to follow. Don't get me wrong, the plot itself is heartwrenching, romantic, and terribly tragic and makes for a very good story, I just didn't enjoy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to get into, but worth the time! I've read a few classics, but this was by far one of the hardest to get into. It started out quite slow and I had a hard time continuing to read it. I found that I had to actually draw out a family tree to keep the characters straight in my head. Eventually the pace quickens and it becomes difficult to put down. You can't help wanting to know more about these characters and what will happen to them. That being said, I have never read a book with so many terrible people. Some of them had some redeeming qualities, but overall most of them were quite distasteful. The end proved to be what I had hoped for and made some of the characters seem better in my eyes. Overall, this was a great book, well told in a perspective that is uncommon yet effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enthralling This book gives life to some of the most intriguing characters I've ever experienced. The only one, really, that I hated was Joseph - and that was simply because I couldn't understand a single bloomin' word he said! Heathcliff, despite his evilness, is still one of the most fascinating and lovable characters ever created. A suspenseful, romantic, mysterious, and completely enthralling classic read that I hated to put down. I can't believe it has taken me eighteen years to discover it! Highly recommended to anyone that is interested in suspenseful romance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ...recommended This book was my first attempt at reading a Classic and sticking with it. I wont lie I put it down at first because it starts off slow and it is very difficult to follow who's who. Having said that there is a very helpful family tree in the beginning. Once you get the lay of the land as it were its a very difficult book to put down and you find yourself wanting to know more about what happens to these people. I highly recommend this and may even read it again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trouble in Paradise More interesting than I thought it was going to be. This is a classic and for good reason, the plot and story are really well thoguht out. The only issue I had was that it was really slow pace. Howver, I did enjoy the perspective it was told in, not someone you'd ever expect. Worth reading if you have the time, but you have to be patient.
