about

Once, in the Kingdom of Incendium, there were twelve princesses of the realm, each a dragon shifter. Each fiery and passionate. Each possessed of an appetite for pleasure that only her destined mate can satisfy. Twelve men are expected in Incendium, each with special powers of his own, each with the gift to claim one dragon princess’s heart forever.

Engaged to Prince Urbanus of Regalia, Gemma knows that her fiancé ordered the assassination of her best friend—but has been told that he’s her HeartKeeper. Caught between her destiny and her moral duty, she decides to take vengeance upon Urbanus after the wedding night. Gemma’s not counting on more dark revelations about Urbanus, much less his beguiling charm. Alone in his palace, Gemma can only rely upon herself to ensure her survival—or can she trust the mysterious stranger who pledges to aid her, for reasons unknown?

Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Arista's Legacy" by Deborah Cooke. Book 2.5 in the Dragons of Incendium series. I read this story December 2016. This was my review. This is a short story in the Incendium series detailing what happened to Arista before the previous book "Wyvern's Prince." It is not a stand alone and must be read as part of the whole series because it really would not make sense on it's own. Arista is a cyborg and is sent on a mission to kill Prince Venero. But somehow, Arista falls in love with Venero, which is impossible because cyborgs don't have feelings! These short stories within the series all seem to be moments of the past for these characters and works as an information outlet, filling in the reader on facts about the world of Incendium. It's an interesting concept. I liked it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from "Wyvern's Prince" by Deborah Cooke. Book 2 in the Dragons of Incendium series. I read this book in October 2016. This was my review. I liked this new addition to the Incendium series. The main characters are Gemma and Venero. Gemma is a dragon princess of Incendium and Venero is a prince of Regalia. This story is a new twist on the old classic, the Princess and the Frog. Gemma wants vengeance for the death of her friend Arista and her fiance, Urbanus, is responsible. But instead of calling off the wedding, Gemma has a plan so she can deal with Urbanus herself. Her plan doesn't go the way she thought and she never expected to be rescued by a toad! Venero has been waiting for his chance to break the spell that turned him into a toad. That chance happens to be his brother's new wife. And Gemma is nothing like he thought she would be. Being that this story is a novella (the whole series is comprised of novellas and short stories), the story moves along quickly. Fast paced, witty and fun to read. The characters are very likable and the banter back and forth between Venero and Gemma is very well done. I liked it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quick and revealing ARISTA'S LEGACY by Deborah Cooke is instalment 2.5 in the author's Dragons of Incendium paranormal/ fantasy series focusing on the twelve royal dragon princesses of Incendium. ARISTA'S LEGACY veers down a path of science-fiction in that our heroine is a 'Sword Sister '; a member of the Hive; an active warrior of the collective. Arista is neither dragon nor human, and her story line begins in the previous instalment -Wyvern's Prince. SOME BACKGROUND to the series : For fans of Cooke’s previous series about dragons, THE DRAGONS OF INCENDIUM is NOT connected to, or a spinoff from, her best selling Dragonfire series. The current series focuses on female dragon shifters of Incendium searching for their ‘HeartKeeper’-their mate- and the ‘Carrier of the Seed’ but the princes of Regalia are not necessarily the male that calls to the princesses hearts. The world building reveals the political alliances and potential fall-out when two monarchies collide. ARISTA'S LEGACY is a bit of a departure from the dragon shifters. Arista was Gemma's (Wyvern's Prince) guardian and friend, and Arista's Legacy is a story of what happened before the events of the preceding novel revealing some background information and history not previously explored in the series. The story line is told through accessed memories, knowledge and data retrieved from Arista who had fallen in love and was desperate to retain the thoughts of her conscience mind. ARISTA'S LEGACY is a very quick and revealing read; a short story that acknowledges a secondary character and her contributions to the preceding tale, as well as a glimpse into a possible future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.75 stars-fairytale-esque story line : 3.75 stars--WYVERN’S PRINCE is the third installment but second full-length story line in Deborah Cooke’s adult DRAGONS OF INCENDIUM paranormal/fantasy romance novella series focusing on the twelve royal princesses of Incendium. This is princess Gemma’s story- a re-imagining of the Frog Prince with his beautiful dragon mate. SOME BACKGROUND: For fans of Cooke’s previous series about dragons, THE DRAGONS OF INCENDIUM is NOT connected to, or a spinoff from, her best selling Dragonfire series. Told from several third person points of view WYVERN’S PRINCE follows Princess Gemma as she is about to reluctantly marry Prince Urbanus of Regalia but our heroine has other plans once the wedding has been consummated. Knowing that Urbanus is not the princess’s Heartkeeper, Gemma believes that once she conceives she will carry out her plans to destroy the man who had previously arranged to assassinate her sister, and killed her best friend. But Gemma’s plans fail when her betrothed casts a spell that forces our heroine to depend upon someone else for help. What ensues is a cross- country journey as Gemma struggles to regain her powers with the help of an unusual source. We are introduced to Urbanus’s twin brother Venero, although for all intents and purposes he is believed to be missing or dead. It is Venero that will call to Princess Gemma’s heart and in doing so help heal them both along the way. WYVERN’S PRINCE is a fairytale-esque story line with dragons and magic, building love, an evil queen who is not above destroying her family to get what she wants, and a little bit of science fiction added for some interesting color. The premise is imaginative and enchanting; the characters are dynamic and colorful; the romance is passionate and fated. WYVERN’S PRINCE is a well written, energetic and engaging story that sees another Princess find her Heartkeeper and her mate.
