about

From theNew York Timesbestselling author ofThe Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ckandGet Your Sh*t Togethercomes more straight talk about how to stand up for who you are and what you really want, need, and deserve--showingwhen it's okay to be selfish, why it's pointless to be perfect, and how to be "difficult."
Being yourself should be easy, yet too many of us struggle to live on other people's terms instead of our own. Rather than feeling large and in charge, we feel little and belittled.
Sound familiar? Bestselling "anti-guru" Sarah Knight has three simple words for you:
YOU DO YOU.
It's time to start putting your happiness first--and stop letting other people tell you what to do, how to do it, or why it can't be done. And don't panic! You can do it without losing friends and alienating people. Knight delivers her trademark no-bullsh*t advice about:
  • The Tyranny of "Just Because"
  • The social contract and how to amend it
  • Turning "flaws" into strengths--aka "mental redecorating"
  • Why it's not your job to be nice
  • Letting your freak flag fly
  • How to take risks, silence the doubters, and prove the haters wrong

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Relatable and Well Written Sarah Knight does a great job at explaining how to be "good selfish" by putting your happiness first while using humour to make this book seem like less of a self help book and more like a conversation with a friend. I couldn't put this book down. Perfect vacation read. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good read Funny and entertaining but gets you nowhere in terms of self-help. Fun read but not life changing

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Funny at times Funny at times but not the greatest self help book. It's a fast read and most of the things are common sense. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing worth remembering really.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Okay A lot of common sense topics, but overall a decent read

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honest and real advice I bought this book not long ago after suffering with my anxiety and depression, and I have to say, it is excellent! It's an unconventional self help book, and you can completely relate to! It is a real eye opener and reminder of things you may have forgotten about, and basically just to help get you back on track of looking after yourself first and doing what you love, not what everyone else wants and expects. It's a beautiful and funny read, and is just what I needed to remind myself of the things I want to do in life and to worry less about others opinions. It may have a lot of general comments and material, but everyone is different and this has to cater to a huge audience. The big picture still gets through, (and yes it may be just a reminder of things we already know but sometimes we all need reminders) and it is up to the reader to use her words to bring something more out of it in your own life, and define her words to fit you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expected a bit more I'm sorry to say I didn't enjoy this book. I really thought I would based on all the great reviews. While it is nice to see a bit of humour spun into a self-help book I unfortunately didn't feel this book gave me any real takeaway. I felt that everything in it was quite basic and general and would have liked to have seen more in depth material. Nonetheless, It wasn't a bad read and I think some people may find things to take away from it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked the book Sarah Knight is an awesome writer in general. This book had a lot of common sense, in my opinion it was better than her first book, but not as good as her second book

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Advice To Be The Most Fun Version of You This book is a terrific third book from Sarah Knight, and arguably could be considered a love letter TO YOURSELF. I really loved this book, because I really love any sort of advice that centers around just genuinely being comfortable with you, exactly as you are, exactly how you want to be, without judgement. This book serves up whole heaping piles of this - being confident in letting your own personal freak flag fly, and spending more of your time focusing on you vs. focusing on what other people think about you. As Sarah Knight so eloquently writes, "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself." There are definitely references back to the first two books that Sarah has written, but done in a way that ties the overarching ideas from all the books together, into a current theme of how to just live your life for yourself, on your own terms. Of course, this was also done with Sarah's particular brand of perfectly timed comedic humor. Its like grabbing a glass of wine with your bestie, and having a good heart to heart about how to live your best life. I would absolutely recommend that people read this one if your looking for a little motivation, a little inspiration or just a good read written by an author that you wouldn't mind tossing back a few tequila's with, and heading out to find some traffic cones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Advice for real life This year i've been all about the self-help books, this author included in my list of books to read. She is funny but means business and tells it to you straight. She gives advice that can actually be used in real life

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Honest And Relatable! I thoroughly enjoy this book! Her writing style is hilarious and makes you feel like she is actually talking to you. The lessons in this book are serious but she presents them in a lighter way that makes it super easy to get through the entire book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Humor A great self-help read with relatable content and wonderful humour.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from would recommend it to self-help readers I feel like the Author would be angry, if I said it was an "OK" book. I haven't read the first two books of her, but at tamest just sounded "deep in herself" and a bit scary. Would recommend it to self-help book lovers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Subtle Art of Living Your Life I bought this book on recommendation and boy am I glad I did. It's funny, witty, down to earth and some of the best advice I've ever been given. Definitely worth a read for anyone, even someone who's just looking to improve their outlook on life. Not your typical self-help book.
