Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time with a device like this. I'm very happy with the sound gear . Its my first one and I love the fact it goes everywhere with me. I play it low as to not impair my hearing . That allows the battery to last more than 8 hrs. I'm glad i made this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for naps and cooking I fell asleep wearing this. I laid down, told my house AI to set a timer and fell asleep. Now the bad part. Unfortunately the system shuts it self down before the battery is fully drained, this is bad. Stagnant charge is debilitating to a battery. This flaw lessen the longevity of this device. :( could have been great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you're not a headphone person... As an alternative to headphones, I gotta say I'm mostly impressed. They are pretty comfortable, so long as you're not trying to ecercise with them. They have great battery life at moderate volumes and the soundstage they produce is awesome. It's like having a hifi system right in front of you, which is something headphones do not provide. Mid-bass is good but the lower octaves are lacking. I think this is more of a limitation of design. Who wants their neck vibrating-shaking and then battery life would take a bit hit too, so I get it. Overall pretty happy with them, just wish there was a way to disable the very loud on/off JBL tones. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound, some trade-offs For me personally, this type of wearable speaker is exactly what I've been waiting. I did a ton of shopping for the right one, and this JBL was my final decision and I've been very pleased with it. There are a few things that do bother me and why I rate it 4/5 though, so I'll list those items for others to consider. First, though it's very comfortable to wear I feel like it's a bit heavier than I expected. This isn't really a big deal, but I do think it makes me get hotter underneath the device. When wearing while doing work or chores, I find that I sweat a bit underneath this speaker. I'm sure this will be much more noticeable come summer time. Second is that the unit really doesn't flex at all. It rests on my shoulders fine, but I can't tweak how it does so really can't adjust the direction of the sound at all. Additionally, I have a bit of a thick neck so putting it on and taking it off tends to scratch me a little - particularly since the edges on the end are stiff and rather sharp. And the last thing I was hoping for in a wearable like this and at this price point was the ability to adjust the sound details - treble, bass, or even a full equalizer. Unfortunately, it just is what it is. Thankfully JBL is pretty solid in this area, but would've been nice to adjust at least for the different types of content I listen to like books and podcasts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great sound bad battery length Sound gear has very nice sound but ,doesn’t hold a charge for more than 3 hours and that’s at medium to low volume. The only reason I haven’t sent it back is because of the sound and being able to wear at work. To bad they didn’t work on putting a better long lasting battery in it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sound, very awkward These sound a lot like typical earbuds. They sound full in the highs and mids but are lacking in the lows (not very good bass). I only use the soundgear around the house because the general design looks out of place in public. They can get very loud but be cautious because you can blow out the speakers, I did this to one of them in the first two days of having them. They're AMAZING for people who love to relax and listen to ASMR. They're also great for listening in the car and since they're not in your ear it's really easy to pay attention to your surroundings if needed. However, I wouldn't recommend using these in public because it's more of a loudspeaker than earbuds so anyone and everyone can hear what's playing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and safer alternative to headphones! I was intrigued upon first hearing about the JBL Soundgear...even though it meant having some speakers hanging by my neck. After thoroughly using the Soundgear around the house and even during some errands and walks in the park, I can say I have come around. The Soundgear creates this personal surround sound atmosphere, allowing you to listen to your music and take calls hands-free while you work or play. The build quality is very good, though I would think a little more flexibility in the joints would be welcome. I think JBL is on to something here, since the Soundgear could make listening to music safer in some instances, like when biking, allowing your music to be heard but also letting you keep an open ear for sounds of trouble, sirens, horns, etc. This would obviously not be for everyone but I think plenty of people will find the Soundgear useful and enjoyable. Also the fact that you're not pumping high-volume sound directly into your ear canal has to be a plus, keeping your ears safe from sound-induced damage. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it My wife and I bought one for each of us. We love them. Bluetooth connection is flawless. When I turn it on, it connects. The music sounds like it is in my head in a way that headphones and earbuds does not. Sound is excellent. Hands free calls are great. Only negative is that the sound is very audible to those around you, so it will potentially bother others if you are listening at work, on the train, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Personal Speaker! This is a great product for listening to content while doing work around the house when you want to hear the environment around you but don’t want hardware on your head. The unit is pretty rigid, so it might be a bit tough for people with larger necks to put on their shoulders, but it’s very comfortable when it’s on. Not too light and not too heavy, doesn’t move at all when walking around the house and doesn’t shift around when leaning over to grab something. The materials used feel very sturdy and premium translating to looking great with durability. Connecting to the JBL Soundgear is very quick and simple (I am a huge fan of the power switch over the the power button). The strength of the connection is great, going through quite a few walls and metal objects within my apartment without ever dropping the signal. I would describe the audio quality as okay for most music (it doesn’t satisfy my bass needs for most songs, but I like alot of bass). However, this product is perfect for podcasts! For all audio, I think it does a really good job of separating the left and right audio, so it somewhat feels like I’m wearing headphones. When the audio isn’t left or right specific, I perceive the sound to be coming from behind my head as opposed to inside the center of my head when I’m wearing headphones. It’s not bad, it’s just a different experience. The Soundgear gets louder than I would ever need it too and I don’t hear any distortion at that level. I didn’t notice and perceptible lag when watching videos (youtube, instagram, facebook) which is great! The battery life is decent at 6 hours. I could see people wanting more, but it was plenty for me, since I used this product primarily during quick house chore sessions. Also, it only takes about two hours to charge from zero percent battery. Having the microphones on the unit is great for answering calls when your phone isn’t within reach. I can hear the caller very clearly and the mic quality is okay. The three control buttons are very nice having tactile feedback and answering/rejecting calls is super simple with a bump on the play/pause button. The volume control and song navigation worked as intended too. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from odd device.. I think this is a cool product, I however would never use it other than one scenario, VR or AR is the only purpose I see for this device. honestly I'd never talk to someone on the phone on this nor would I ever wear this and also listen to music. cool idea, but not practical enough for myself. extremely niche product with minimal practical use. Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL DOES IT AGAIN !!!! I love the JBL Sound Gear. It was very user friendly and easy to operate. It took me less than five minutes for me to learn how to properly operate the headphones. The bluetooth function connected flawlessly to several devices I used to test this function. It fits smoothly on the neck and did not feel awkward or out of place. The weight distribution of the Sound Gear fitted just right on my neck. The sound quality of the Sound Gear was crisp and clear. The four speakers located in this unit did a great job of providing a "surround sound" quality that I was very pleased with. Great job JBL!!! I would recommend the JBL Sound Gear to all my friends and family. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I didn't think I'd like it, but... I actually thought the idea of it was dumb. Maybe it's because I don't play any VR games, or maybe it's because everything is getting lighter and smaller and this is not. Out of the box, setting up the Bluetooth was easy and the sound was really good. It doesn't have a ton of low end, but I didn't expect it since it doesn't form a sealed enclosure around your ears like earbuds or headphones. I had some work to do around the outside of the house and figured out immediately that this wasn't a dumb idea at all and I actually loved it. You can listen to music (or anything over BT) and do what you need to do while still hearing what's going on around you. I wouldn't recommend this for sports since it wouldn't stay put, but there are a million everyday uses for it. It does phone calls well, but it may not be right for everyone since the calls are not private. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting product I was unsure of how to feel about the JBL Soundgear when it came in the mail. It was a concept that I hadn't ever thought of but was willing to try out. In order for my review to have the same meaning to all, I must describe my daily life. I work from home and share an office with my wife, I am on the phone approximately 6 hours a day. The first day with the soundgear was remarkable, I could keep it at a volume comfortable for me but not intrusive to my wife's calls. The clarity was far above almost all other Bluetooth devices I have used. As time went on, the clarity stayed the same and the greatness of the product stayed around but I started to notice the weight on my neck. I have a fairly large neck and spend a significant amount of time at the gym but this thing created a weight that I wasn't ready for and decided that it only belonged on my neck during calls. I will continue to use the product and will recommend to many other people, but in the next version... concentrate on weight. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect device for VR Gaming and Teleconference!! Another innovative product from JBL, which is perfect for crystal clear phone conversations and teleconferences and of course for music lovers who can listen to music while doing work and stay aware of their surroundings. As soon as you take the product out the box, all you can feel is a high quality made SOUNDGEAR , soft to the touch , comfortable to wear and super easy to set up right out the box. I have connected it to my phone and laptop and I am enjoying the surround sound around my neck, which is truly amazing. As promised by JBL it gives an amazing battery backup around 5 to 6 hours for a full charge. If you are a technology lover and interested in trying new products, this new JBL SOUNDGEAR is for you!! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic sound quality and super comfortable The sound quality of this product is simply amazing. All you have to do is close your eyes and you are transported into the music. I couldn't believe how much the sound envelops you. The product is surprisingly light weight and actually fits around my large neck. Having said that, this leads me to my first complaint. I wish the device was a little bit more flexible. I read in the manual that flexing the Soundgear could cause damage to the product. After I get it on, it fits just fine, but getting it on is a little tight and I am worried that it will flex too much. While the sound quality is really really great, this leads me to my second complaint. When facing forward, the sound it so surprising how it feels like you are in a bubble of amazing audio... until you turn your head. If you are looking around a lot, some of that sound gets lost. This is a really neat product and again, the sound has to be heard to be believed. Despite the two complaints I have about it, it really is amazing. Everything works great from the pairing process to the operation of the device. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice quality sound with nice features I received the soundgear for free about one week ago and was amazed with how well you can hear the music from it while wearing it around your neck. The sound quality however came as no surprise because I already own two flip 4s a charge 3 and even put two pairs of jbl 609c gto Grand Touring component speakers in my sons car and the sound quality of all are really nice. It's really funny that I received the soundgear for free because It caught my eye some months ago when JBL first showed pictures of it on their website. jbl's becoming more well known these days because of their consistent sound quality! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful I wasn't quite sure about the product when I received it, but I was pleasantly surprised on how useful it really was. Some suggestions have been to use it for VR which I could see being very useful, but I was using it for my workouts and viewing TV and movies on my phone or TV, and it was perfect. The sound quality is amazing which is not a shock considering sound quality has never been an issue with any JBL product I have received. I would also use this watching movies on my phone and the surround sound effect really enthralls you into what you are watching. The nice thing about using it during my workouts was I was able to listen to my mix of music but also still able to focus on other things going on around me, especially when going on run's outside, it keeps you focused on your surroundings and safe from things such as traffic. I know some people may say I could never see myself with this but when you see how convenient, lightweight, and useful it really is I believe you will love it! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Groundbreaking technology in a comfortable way! This speaker gives a whole new meaning to wearable technology. I was skeptical of its sound quality and even purpose before I got it, but now I believe in the soundgear! It's an immersive experience to say in the least. If I want to listen to some music while cleaning the house without blasting it throughout, pop on the soundgear. If I want to go on a walk with the dogs but still want to be able to hear cars and other road noise around me, pop on the soundgear. Even when I'm playing VR games in the living room and don't want to be completely oblivious of my girlfriend needs something or the phone rings, pop on the soundgear. The sound quality is crisp and clear, it's comfortable to wear for its entire 6 hour battery life, and it's an entirely new way of enjoying music in my every day life. I am absolutely blown away! The bass is not as full as I had hoped, but it more than makes up for that in clarity and fullness. Its a brilliant device, and I think it's going to change the the way we listen to music! I'm in love! I haven't used headphones in a week!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, battery life, and comfort The JBL Soundgear is a great wearable device that really shines when you're doing tasks around the house. I use mine when I am doing the dishes, cooking, cleaning, and even mowing the lawn. You can even set them down and use them as a normal Bluetooth speaker when you don't want the Soundgear around your neck. The only minor issue with them, is that they're so sensitive to sound they pick up on white noise from your device when they're anticipating sound. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really cool product When I received this product I honestly didnt know what to expect. But when i used it, I immediately fell in love with it. It is so comfortable, sound quality is amazing, and its only loud music to the user. Yeah other people around can hear what you are listening to, but the music is low for them to really listen to it. For the user, you cant here anything anyone is saying if u have it on full blast. Its great for chilling around the house without blasting music or me personally go snowboarding and listen to music without having to lug around a big speaker. Overall, great product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sound... Not for all music types The JBL Soundgear is a product that will not be for everyone. I had high hopes for this speaker and it delivers in some parts but fails in others. The construction feels great and has a premium feel to it. I have a larger neck and I was able to wear the SoundGear without any problems or fattigue for multiple hours at a time. When it comes to the audio quality, the experience will vary depending on the music genre you are listening to. Music with a lot of bass feels weak since the SoundGear does not have a lot of bass or punch. I enjoy deep bass and like to feel the impact on music that has bass. Music that does not depend on the bass sounds extremely good and the highs are very clear! When on a phone call, the audio is loud and clear on both sides of the call. Controls are simple to get used to and have good feedback when pressed. It would be nice to get more battery out of the set and 6 hours is enough to get me through a day at work. I just need to make sure that I charge them once I get home so they can be ready for tomorrow. I connected 2 phones to the Soundgear and had no issues playing music from either device. Just stop the music on one phone and hit play on the other. No need to unpair and pair them everytime I want to change devices. The JBL Soundgear is the first pair of speakers I own of this type and I have to say it is a new experience and it is definetly something that everyone who likes listening to music must experience. It is nice to be able hear your music on the go and be aware of your surroundings without having to stop the music or take off your headphones. For all the types of music I enjoy, the Soundgear is not enough. It would be nice if future revisions come with more bass or a setting/app that will allow you to manage the sound. Using the EQ settings on my phone was not enough to get the sound I wanted on songs that have bass. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome product! The JBL Soundgear might be a unique product, but it is also a very good product. First of all the build quality is very good, the speaker feels very sturdy and durable. The Soundgear also features a rubberized bottom to keep it comfortable and in place on your neck. With a few hours of continued usage I didn't feel and discomfort. Also the controls along the bottoms of both sides are very easy to use, if you hold down on the volume up or down key you can skip forward or back a track, and holding down on the play/pause button will activate your phones AI assistant. The most important feature of the Soundgear is the sound of course and JBL definitely delivered. The sound is very clear and has a nice punchy bass thanks to the dual bass ports located along the top. I find that the Soundgear gets plenty loud enough, I even wore it while riding an ATV and it still sounded loud and clear. Personally I will be using my Soundgear mainly for gaming, because the surround sound effect is just amazing it literally sounds like I'm wearing extremely expensive headphones with the freedom and comfortably of having my ears uncovered. There are only two things that bothered me enough to give it a 4/5 instead of 5/5.First it's a little hard to get the Soundgear on and off my neck (personal problem) when it's on though it fits fine. The main reason for me giving the product a 4/5 is I feel the battery is slightly lacking, 6 hours is fine for most gaming sessions, but I feel like 10 hours is what the Soundgear should have. All in all this is a really great addition to the JBL family of products and I highly recommend it, especially for gamers and VR users. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Immersive Sound! The sound on this product is phenomenal. Battery life reached about 6 hours. The actual device did not feel as comfortable around my neck. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound ! I had the awesome opportunity to review this product and I'm so happy that I did! The quality on this is spectacular! It feels/sounds like i have headphones on, the bass was what sealed the deal for me. The sound coming out is crisp, well balanced, and also very lightweight! It's practically a portable surround sound system on your neck! The only thing that i wasn't really to happy about is that it doesn't have a adjustable band, even though it fits perfect I just wish that it had that option..Other than that, This is a Must Buy! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Cool Product!!! It's for personal use yes. Mostly in more of a private and intimate setting, but they can also be used when you still want to be aware of your surroundings unlike the isolation of headphones or earbuds. For example biking or jogging. You can listen to your music in a surround sound like experience yet still not have your surroundings completely blocked out as they are with headphones/earbuds; which of course could be very dangerous when you can only hear your audio content pumping into your ear canal and not the school bus horn blowing or that sound of that dog bark getting closer... Yikes! Lol. I also think they will come in handy when doing most things involving your hands... Cooking, washing dishes, folding clothes, working on cars, cleaning, gardening, home office work, etc. You can listen to your audio content with your own personal surround sound experience, have no earbud/earphone fatigue, take hands free calls, and not be oblivious to what other things may need your attention. I wouldn't suggest use for private listening environments like work (unless you have a private office), public transport, or in any setting where your audio choice may disturb the people around you. Also good in a setting where you may have children around that you need to keep an ear open for. You will still be able to hear that loud bang or that high pitched little voice yelling your name like the world is about to end only to ask you can they have a cookie or some juice! Lol. I'm also sure that gamers and mobile video buffs will appreciate this device as well. Great for paring up with those virtual goggles people use. With the exponential expansion of mobile video content now and the direction it's headed in the near future with cable and satellite companies now marketing their mobile service and devices (cell phones, tablets, etc) to be bundled with streaming services on their devices this Soundgear pairs great as your own personal sound system. When connected to your latest big screen smart phone, tablet or phablet with that beautiful clarity they are a winning combination. It's a different experience but in a good way. Sounds great, light weight, useful, and just something cool to have that not many people even know about. Great volume, good bass, great clarity! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart concept, brilliant sound! When I ordered these I wondered what they were like because I thought portable speakers for one person was a strange concept. I only ever had portable Bluetooth speakers to cater toward group settings. When I slid the Soundgear around my neck and turned it on, I no longer thought it was strange. They are surround sound, and the quality is awesome. I was wondering if the speaker would be disruptive to people around me if I was listening to them (i.e. in the house) but what's cool is that they sound crisp when on your neck but much more silent further away than expected; the sound sort of runs through you. They're not too heavy, but weighted enough where they're stable and comfortable around your neck. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound, great gadget but one annoying thing I bought this product in Europe where it it’s already on the market. As expected, the sound is great, connectivity super easy and switching between phone calls and music is seamless. For sound in a personal space, it’s ideal. I also like the fact I can walk around the house with the sound near but not in my ears. Quite a new experience. But there is one annoying thing. There is no way to switch off the product quietly! JBL has a fixed, loud, disconnect sound that seemingly can’t be changed. Made me jump a mile after listening to music quietly in bed for 40 minutes. So much for relaxing before sleeping. Suggestion to product development: as this is a personal sound product, no need to have a sound so loud the room can hear when switching off. This sound should be at the same volume that the product is being listened to.
