Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit frustrating to use I prefer the iPad mini, plus it can do more quicker. It is more expensive though, so if your budget is lower this works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gift The Kobo makes a great gift for book-lovers. I received one myself and it has saved me a lot of pain lugging around heavy books. It's especially great for commuting and travelling!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The keypad is awful!!!! The keypad on this mistakes my keystrokes for the left hand key constantly. It's been nearly impossible to connect Kobo online because it won't recognize the keystrokes "

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this for school purposes and fell in love with it! I bought this initially for school purposes. I have so much textbooks and it's killing my back, unfortunately we aren't allowed Ipads/Iphones for "reading/book purposes". I love this little device and now use it daily!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save me Kobo Aura I moved last year and I had over 30 boxes of books. The movers gave me funny looks and asked me if I knew about Kobo ereaders. I'm a student and most of my paychecks go to textbooks that are too heavy and hurt my back. However, I am soooo hopeful that this little ereader will help me maintain my New Years resolution to be a little greener and to save me a little storage space and a little money here and there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but European Model is Better On my travels I encountered a French man who had a European version Kobo bought in the same month I had purchased mine. A side by side comparison had his start up faster, a more responsive display, better features, and overall better feel. The kobo is still a great travel accessory for me, but next time I will be waiting to purchase mine in the European duty free. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome gift idea for the vacationer Although I do love the pages of a fresh book, the Kobo is a nice way to read books on vacation without glare from the sun on an iPad and not having to worry about keep a book open in uncomfortable positions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good! I enjoyed using the kobo aura but it got stolen from me. I do miss it. I think it would have been nice to have a waterproof one though so thats what I'll get next but I wish it came in white! Overall I would buy one again for the right price!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would give it zero stars if possible Stay away from Kobo. It's that simple. I purchased this device at an Indigo store in January of this year. Still under warranty. A few weeks ago it lost the able to connect with the PC with USB. Wifi still works, the device charges but not connecting. I made the incredible mistake of calling Kobo customer support for assistance. Set aside the fact that the device stopped working properly after only 7 months of light use, Kobo customer service is literally the worst customer service I have ever dealt with - in my entire life. To summarize (as it would take a novel to explain the depths of stupidity and ignorance I encountered), it took me just over 3 weeks of daily calls, two dozen emails to get to the point where they will be sending me a shipping label for the return of the item. BTW, they approved the RMA the first day I called. The remainder of the 3 week period was me calling back, going through hours of them asking me what the issue was (despite my having a ticket number which should have had all the details). Of the many emails I received, 6 of them were instructions on how to reset the device in order to fix my issue. This was "after" a warranty RMA was approved... I also got 4 requests for feedback on their customer service which I gleefully responded to. I had my RMA escalated 3 times to supervisors. All promised that I would receive a resolution to the issue within 24 hours. Days passed after every escalation with no update. Why promise a customer something and not deliver? Why have an escalation process if it serves no purpose. Anyhow... Today they stated they would send me a shipping label to return the item. Still haven't received it yet. What I find amusing is that now it could take weeks for the device to come back from warranty service. Setting aside the fact that the Kobo hardware is slower than a 10 year old cell phone or that you have to set up a kobo account and go through a painfully lengthy process to get the device to a usable state or that you are locked into the kobo ecosystem of books (to be fair, Nook and Kindle have the same issue), other than E-Ink technology there is simply no reason to recommend this piece of junk to anyone over a $100 7" tablet that is vastly more functional. Steer clear of this crap. It's not my first kobo over the years (don't even get me started on what a table coaster the kobo vox was...) but it's definitely my last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My husband loves it I got this as a birthday present for my husband after he mentioned to me that he had to wait somewhere in the car for an hour and wished he'd carried his books with him so he could've read. I wasn't sure if he'd like this or not since he isn't really into electronics but he ended up loving it. It's super convenient, he just slips it into his jeans pocket and he has multiple books at his fingertips. The chapters employee told me that you can borrow e-versions of books from your local library using this and when my husband figured out how to use this feature he enjoyed it even more. Although this is the least expensive Kobo available it has all the basic features and is totally worth it. The only issues we've had so far are around learning how to use it and the different features. All in all super convenient and we're both so glad I got this! #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once again another great Kobo product I have had Kobo's since almost the beginning and they have always been amazing and no problems. In fact my original Touch is still being used to this day by my sister. Converted her from a book format. She thought she would not like it but after 2 days she was hooked. I would recommend to everyone to get a cover as once you have the cover to protect you are also holding a book in you hands. The fact that you can read in the blazing sun is the end all for me and also don't have to worry about the wind blowing everything away if like me you love to read on your deck or anywhere for that matter. Love the size of this ereader and the built in light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOOOOVE IT I have been using the Kobo app on an tablet for a few months but was annoyed by how I was constantly having to charge it so I decided to splurge and purchase a Kobo reader. I love it! Super easy to use and set up, light weight, looks like really book pages and has adjustable screen brightness. I am so glad I splurged!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great purchase! This Kobo is much better than the original. I like the touch screen as well as the light. The brightness of the screen is great. At night I only have to put it to 3 or 4% brightness. The battery lasts for a long time. It is an easy way to keep all my books in one place and is great when traveling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was glad to upgrade I am firmly in the camp of people who prefer books, but I bought this before leaving on an extended vacation to Australia. I already had a first-gen kobo, that didn't have a touchscreen. The upgrade was worth it - this runs a lot more smoothly, is much faster to navigate the library and was easier to hold. That said, purchases via wifi are still annoying: it's easier to buy a book on a separate computer and then sync by wifi, but still adds in a factor of invconvenience. I also found that trying to dim the light often resulted in turning the page. And none of my library books will sync with the Kobo despite numerous attempts and workarounds, which really diminishes the utility. So, good for travel but not being used now that I'm back to daily life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great....but not as great as holding a book Love the fact thats its very portable, but doesn't seem to replace the feel and love of turning those pages and seeing how much of the book you've read/how much of it you have left when I'm holding an actual book.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy One It was great when it worked but once the limited warranty is over, the Kobo acts more like a paperweight. There's no battery replacements available in Canada - better luck buying brand new again $$ or sticking with paper books!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NEW UPDATE RUINED HOMESCREEN. No customization!!!!!!! Forced to use these terrible tiles I don't want! On the newest homescreen, they ruined the kobo interface for me. Before I could remove tiles I disliked by long pressing. I am not only able to see 4 current books, instead of 5 (I was hoping to INCREASE that with an update). All I want on my home screen is current reads. NOTHING ELSE. JUST current reads. Put everything else in the dropdown menu. It's not rocket science. on my home screen now it has an author, and says 12 unread books. And I can't even remove it. It's a bunch of books in a series taking up 20% of my screen. It makes no sense! then to the left is "My Books". If you have more than 4 current books, it won't show them under recent, it shows most recent "uploaded" books, not recent reads. So I end up scrolling and scrolling and scrolling through pages to find my 5th book I'm reading. I don't think I will buy a kobo again if there is no customizability of the home screen. I literally want nothing but current books I'm reading on my entire screen and a drop down for the other options. Nothing else. All this clutter and wasted space drives me crazy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ereader I purchased this just after it arrived on the shelves. I hadn't had any issues setting it up as it is very straight forward. I enjoy all aspects of this device and it's still going strong. Having the screen light is nice on my eyes as the previous kobo, which I use for day use needed the light clip which made a glare on the screen and couldn't read for very long in the evening. This ereader is an easy set up and lasts a very long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for travel or commuting. Mixed feelings about this. Pros: I can take a bunch of books with me when I travel or when I'm commuting taking my Kobo is lighter than a hardcover. Convenient and adjustable font size. Cons: Problems with glare, hard on my eyes, love the touch and feel of a real book, harder to filp back and forth, technical issues with the functioning and just breaking down, I'm more of a traditionalist I guess. Too frustrating overall for me to recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointing All of the members of my book club bought a Kobo since we travel and all of us have had trouble with it breaking down. There is nowhere to go to get it fixed. I've been on the phone with their help centre for hours and they just keep giving me the same things to try that don't work. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was kept waiting for over 15 minutes and gave up. One of the other members has had her Kobo replaced 3 times by Kobo and its broken again!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a Digital Fan I got this as a gift for my mom. She loves it when she travels because she can basically bring 20 different books with her without the added weight. But as for everyday reading, we both still prefer printed books. No glare, no chance of the screen not working or shattering, and, honestly, they smell better :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this tablet I bought this item so it would make reading better. I love this tablet because the words are so much bigger than a book. I now really enjoy reading again because of this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little device I purchased the kobo aura after buying in hard copy a very large hard cover non-fiction text. It was difficult to read the book lying down or any other position other than seated. I was impressed with the set up of the device and the ease of purchasing text as well as syncing free books and pdfs. I also am a big user of the pocket app (for IOS, mac and web) for all my offline article reading. The sync with the kobo for this was great. Given the job doesn't have an LED or LCD screen it can be read without blue light allowing me to read up till anytime. It also lasts forever on a charge and even tells you much you have left in time to finish a book. You can also install the Kobo program for your computer, phone, iPad etc. to always have your library close at hand. This is a must for any serious reader. I highly recommend the device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for what it is I like it but not as much as the app which I can just use on any device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great for commutes love reading this on transit. so compact. I find it's really touch sensitive when it comes to changing the font size though. It seems any drag on the screen will dramatically alter the font size and it's not easy or intuitive to get back to the optimal view.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great reading again. My husband gave me this item for Christmas. I love it. I can go back to reading again. Rated 4 out of 5 by from good e reader I picked up this e reader because my kobo mini froze. I went to charge the mini and it just stop working. a friend gave me a gift card to help with the cost of replacing the kobo mini ( what a great friend). I am liking this new kobo. It is small enough to hold in one hand and big enough that it doesn't hurt the eyes. The only thing i do not like about the e reader is the touch screen. It is a little off, but nothing to complain about too much. The price is Ok, but could be $110 ( Walmart has it for that price and you can get extended warranty too)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good, but..... Love using this, but it's made with a very flimsy on/off switch. Mine just stopped working after 1.5 years, so no warranty. Basically garbage now. Too bad. Should last longer than that, or they should recall because it seems to be a common problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have read 10 books in the 2 months I've bought it. No joke, it makes reading so much easier. I love how light it is and the ability to adjust font size and margins. The light is an ambient glow that gradually lights up to the desired lighting that you set. No toggle between light and no light, you must slide to the edge to turn off the light, a minor detail but a design irk nevertheless. I bought the case to avoid scratches to my screen, not sure if necessary, just taking precaution. #plumreview

Rated 1 out of 5 by from frustrating This thing drives me a little nuts. It took ages to set up. I had to repeat the same steps over and over and over until it finally worked. It is soooo slow. Typing on it is horrific. The touch screen is really unresponsive and lags. And it totally messed up my Overdrive account. I cannot for the life of me reverse the damage I somehow did when I tried to link the Kobo, Overdrive was functioing perfectly on my iphone and windows computer but since trying to link the Kobo mit became riddled with error messages. I tried everything - authorizing, deauthorising, signing in, signing out, unistalling, reinstalling, but to no avail. Now I can't use Overdrive and have to buy and keep all the books I want to read which I was trying to avoid, as I wanted to exclusively use my local library

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first eReader and Love it! I'm very old school when it comes to reading. I love the feeling of pages in my fingers, but for traveling, it's not quite practical. Therefore decided to look into eReaders. After some thoughtful research on several brands, I decided with the Kobo Aura. It's light weight, fits in my small purse (not a big purse kind of lady), and it's user friendly. The image is great, lots of storage and having Wi-Fi is a bonus. It syncs great with my Kobo reader account online. It's also easy to borrow library books - download the Adobe Reading Edition onto your computer/laptop and off you go to imaginary land.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I Bought This I read right before bed and sometimes fall asleep while reading. This reader is a great alternative as I am able to read in the dark, and not have eye strain, and if I fall asleep the lights won't be on and the reader will shut off. I save a lot of money by buying ebooks and never have to wait for a book to be in stock or drive around to different locations that may have the book. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! This is my second kobo ereader. I upgraded to the Aura from the kobo touch 2.0. It's easy to use. I especially love the back-light which is adjustable and doesn't hurt my eyes. The setup was easy. The battery life is excellent. If you turn off wifi, the battery lasts even longer. It's easy to download books and the touch screen is very responsive. I was able to transfer books from Adobe Digital Editions within minutes to my Aura. Now I have everything on my little ereader which fits in my purse and is perfect for travel! I would definitely recommend this ereader to anyone who loves ereading. It's an excellent product!

The backlight is really bright and you can adjust it to your liking, which is great. The battery life is really good and you don't have to charge it very often. The touch screen also works very well. I would recommend this ereader to anyone who enjoys reading as it is a great product!

I can download PDFs from Gutenberg press. I can download ADE format books from libraries. The battery life is great especially if you buy a sleep cover.it's just the right size to carry around everywhere. You can adjust the font as large as you want or as small as you want. The lighting is excellent For bright daylight to pitch black. I would recommend this product to anyone is much better than any other E reader out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really like this I bought this to be able to read my 300+ Sony books. I had been using the Kobo app on my iPad but really do not like travelling with it. I decided to get the new 6 inch Aura so I could take it with me in my handbag. Since receiving I have read four books on it and I am very satisfied with it. I love the "no fingerprint" backing and the light weight. I really like that there is an option to make the whole bottom of the screen your page turn zone. The screen lighting is very even on mine but the "slide your finger down the side to change the lighting" does not work well. It is very responsive navigating thru the menus and I have had no page turn problems like I had on my very first Kobo which is what made me not like their e-ink devices. All in all I am enjoying this reader. The 212 ppi does not bother me at all even after switching from the 300 ppi iPad mini which I use for night reading utilizing the Night Shift feature. The price is good and I have no regrets regarding this purchase.
