Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible product I have not used my KOBO often. Now it is not working and KOBO will not fix or replace as it is out of it's 1 year warranty. I will be looking for another product. Very disappointing!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I've had a Kobo for over five years now, and I'm in my 2nd year of my Kobo Touch. I find it odd that so many people have negative experiences, and these same people have had continuous negative experiences, while other people have continuous positive experiences. It makes me wonder if it's an issue outside Kobo (i.e. Computer Operating System, etc.) - I'm really not sure. Just speculating. I've never had an issue with either of my Kobos that I could not fix myself, And I'm not considered very tech-savvy. I use it all the time, to download books from Kobo, as well as library books, as well as torrent downloaded epubs. I take it all over the place. I don't always put it in a case. And I've never had an issue. I don't use it to go online, I only use it to read books. I honestly think the bad reviews are the one-offs, and they're outside the norm. Usually people write reviews when they are frustrated, and less people write them when they have a product that they find meets their expectations. So I came here to write that I find the Kobo to be a great product that has met all my expectations, and I'll continue to buy them in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Changed my mind again I did the factory reset, and have my kobo back up and running. It was a painful process though, so I've deducted a star from what I used to consider a 4 star product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thanks for the reviews folks - you've changed my mind My husband gave me a kobo touch for my birthday a few years back, then I gave him one for his birthday. Then we bought a kindle because sometimes we want books unavailable on kobo. So for the past couple of years we have been bragging up how superior the Kobo is. I've had problems with their service, but never with the product itself. Then the other day mine crashed during a software update, and is apparently useless. If it hadn't been for your reviews, I'd be thinking "oh well, sometimes s@#t happens", and be ordering a replacement Kobo. Now I think "s@#t" was engineered.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frozen Screen unable to get resolved by Kobo Custormer Care In past 2 days been on the chat line with Kobo Customer Care twice to no avail. My screen remains frozen at "Restoring your Device to Factory Defaults....". The second time I was advised that all options had been tried to fix problem and that as the reader was over 1 year old and out of warranty nothing could be done. Time for a tablet!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this product - PLEASE TAKE THIS REVIEW SERIOUSLY I know when you read reviews, you get good and bad and you always chuck up the bad ones to just a one off bad experience. This is NOT the case with this review. This product is made so poorly that it breaks just by leaving it alone. It is the SECOND Kobo that I've bought and the second one that broke (albeit the first one last longer than this one). I had the Kobo for less than 6 months and brought it on vacation. I bought the $30 leather case in order to protect it and bought tons of books to read. One day, I set it down on a blanket on a chair (in the shade). It did not drop, it did not go in water or sand. I fed my son and went back to pick it up and it was frozen. Couldn't get it to work again. I called Kobo customer care and like many other reviewers on here was told it had physical damage and it wouldn't be replaced. I was appalled - physical damage? How is that possible if nothing happened to it? I was told the screen is super sensitive to which I replied ok but it wasn't even touched. This product is basically made out of tissue paper and they company is PATHETIC since they know this is an ongoing issue with their product and won't offer any replacements for Kobo's that break within a short period of time. I've dropped my Iphone 10 times and it's never cracked but this thing has physical damage after sitting in its case on a chair for 10 minutes? DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! You will be out of pocket $150 plus the case, plus books and the company will not stand behind the product. As an avid Chapter's shopper, I will also not be shopping in your store anymore. Appalling. I will do everything in my power to get this message across and also post a complaint with the BBB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Kobo I love my Kobo. Everything I read is on my Kobo. I just wish I had bought one with a light. Next one I guess.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from avoid software upgrades Actually, I love my Kobo and have had many hours of enjoyment reading on it. But recently I installed a software upgrade and the Kobo stopped working, with lines across the screen. The customer service people told me that the lines were not "caused" by the upgrade, but the upgrade sometimes made the lines "appear" because of either a defect or damage. Bottom line, they will not take responsibility for it. because my Kobo is beyond its warranty. Very disappointed. I don't want to do business with a company that won't take responsibility for rendering my reader useless. Or at least they could have attached a warning with the upgrade notice that this might happen.
