The newest installment of the fan-favorite Mario Kart™ franchise brings Mushroom Kingdom racing fun into glorious 3D. For the first time, drivers explore new competitive kart possibilities, such as soaring through the skies or plunging into the depths of the sea. New courses, strategic new abilities and customizable karts bring the racing excitement to new heights. Players can choose to race as one of their favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters or even as their Mii™ character. New courses take players on wild rides over mountains, on city streets and through a dusty desert. Nintendo fans will recognize new courses on Wuhu Island and in the jungles from Donkey Kong Country.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Racing Game on the 3DS! The new power-ups are great, especially Lucky 7. The sound and graphics are very good also. First-Person Mode is a great addition to the Mario Kart Series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lucky Number 7 With 6 Mario Kart titles under their belts, the good folks at Nintendo certainly had a lot to live up to with a new instalment in the series. MK7 doesn’t disappoint. It’s innovative, fun, and challenging; everything I've come to expect from a Nintendo flagship title. The gameplay includes gliding, and underwater racing, with a new option to steer from a first-person viewpoint. Also featured are new items like the Fire Flower and the Super Leaf, as well as the ability to build your own kart (body, wheels, and glider) and unlock new parts and drivers as you progress. The game impeccably utilizes the 3D aspect — with many 3D titles I often turn the 3D functionality off to conserve the battery, but with this game I found the visuals too appealing to play without the 3D. It brings the racing to a new level of realism. The game starts out easy (the better to get acquainted with controls) and then reaches a good difficulty level towards the end. As I said in my review for Super Mario 3D Land, this is a must-own for any 3DS owner.
