Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy Best Picture Winner I had been looking forward to this movie for a while. When it won Best Picture I knew I had to watch it. This movie is worthy of all the praise it has received. Ben Affleck is one of the best directors going after Gone Baby Gone and The Town, and Argo seems to be his best yet. The movie starts out normal enough. The premise seems simple, and it is based on a true story so it is not a surprise in anyway. The beauty of this movie is the way it builds up the tension and the atmosphere even though the ending is known. I was at the edge of my seat at the end, even though I knew how it ended. Another strong point of this movie is its performance. Alan Arkin and John Goodman are both spectacualr in there supporting roles as Hollywood types. Bryan Cranston is also good as an CIA boss. Leading man Ben Affleck was a point of debate for me. I could not decide whether it was a great performance of a depressed individual, or a bad performance of a actor who is not interrested. You can decide that for yourself. Even though Affleck's performance was iffy, his direction was outstanding. The fact he was not nominated for Best Director was and is a cinematic crime. Overall a movie that is fully deserving of it's Best Picture Oscar win.
