Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Than Just a Kids Movie When I heard legendary director Martin Scorsese was making a children's movie, I was hesitant to truly anticipate the movie. I should have trusted Marty, as this is by far my favourite kids movie that I can remember. It is really impressive to see Scorsese do a movie like this, as it is totally different to anything I have seen him do before. This movie is like his great thank you to the movie industry for all it has done for him. I was not a fan of the character of Hugo himself, played by Asa Butterfield. As it is a child performance, I am not too hard on him, I am just not a fan. Chloë Moretz on the other hand was great. At such a young age she has given so many different and exceptional performances. She has a long future a head of her. Sir Ben Kingsley is the MVP of this movie though. He is great, and the transformation from beginning to end is great for him. Christopher Lee, Ray Winstone and Jude Law were all great, but had really small roles. It was also awesome to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a movie like this. He needs to do serious movies more often, as he is quite good in them. Overall, this could go down as one of Scorsese's greatest, and a movie every demographic will enjoy.
