An acid-dipped look at the world of entertainment and gossip. J.J. Hunsecker is a ruthless columnist who is so powerful, that one word in his column can make or break a celebrity. He is aided by a slimy publicity agent, who does anything and everything to keep Hunsecker satisfied, even if the deeds are unethical and immoral. So when a musician whom Hunsecker dislikes falls for the columnist's sister, Hunsecker and the lowlife publicist plot the performer's downfall...
